I suspect that the reason you are not getting hits is because such units are probably not made. Why? Because a 13" tv is too small to probably see any qualitative difference in the picture whether the source is Blu-Ray or standard DVD. If you want to play a Blu-Ray disc with a tv of this size you would have to connect a separate Blu-Ray player. I've stood in front of much larger tv's that were side-by-side and I couldn't tell for sure which one was 720p and which one was 1080p. Kudzu has a point. There is just no point in building a blue-rayand tv or a monitor combo that is not capable of displaying high quality media. It is possible to make something like that work though. All you need is a tablet and a blue-ray player that has a usb port w/c isn't that hard to find. simply connect the two and play. I have tried this with an external dvd drive on an android tablet but idk if it would work on iPads.

Interesting note, kudzu. I simply assumed there would be blu-ray versions but maybe they are too expensive for combos. Closeness is not relevant in this scenario though. There just is no space for anything bigger in that spot.

I was originally thinking that I could buy a blu-ray combo and just play HD movies there anyways, letting it upconvert . I wanted to have the technology only. Maybe in a few years I will get BR movies so I will be playing DVD versions.

The unit will be for my mother and the tablet-player sounds like too bulky for the space and to complicated for her use since I would have to put this on top of her current combo & Uverse unit.

On a side note, in case you have some knowledge on these Internet searches, how can one limit the scope to -for example- only blu-ray and not getting hundreds of thousands of hits? It is very frustrating to search pages to find they do not even have the word blu-ray. I tried using single or double quotes to look for an exact match and that did not help. I kept getting pages with 13-inch tv combos but picked up the page because it found the word blu-ray elsewhere in the page. That was definitely not an exact match. Any other symbols that I can use around my search string words to force a 'real' exact match?

I have done something like that too, Gil. I visited Amazon but their search results drove me batty. Then I went to newegg,com and I had coneption fit trying to reduce the tv's by screen size because I had to click once on each screen size to erase the ones I did not want and everytime I clicked, the screen refreshed itself (wait, wait, wait). Oh, lord.

I would swear that one of the search engines at one time had a way to just get the exact results and you could click somewhere if you wanted 'similar' but not exact results. I think it was Yahoo but it sure was not working earlier this AM.
