long term storage in upright freezers

I am trying to decide on appliances for my proposed kitchen. Because of space limitations along "fridge" wall, I was thinking of a 24" all fridge model. But I will still need a freezer which can go on another wall. The salesman at a local store told me that the upright freezers are not good for long term storage because of the frost-free feature. While I do have an old chest freezer in the basement for meat, berries, extra bread, etc., I was hoping to consolidate to a new one in the kitchen. Was the salesman correct? Will my frozen goods deteriorate faster in the new, way more expensive upright?

Thanks for any input!
