replace MW & toaster oven with advantium or speed oven?
Comments (25)Thanks, pillog. The dimensions and storage suggestions are extremely helpful. As for the 27" vs. 30", I'd love to have a 30" but the problem is how to fit one in. I'm working around various obstacles (e.g., a chimney) and fixed features (e.g., unmovable doors and some unmovable walls) that limit what we can do with the space. On the other hand, I hadn't thought about what would happen if the 27" ovens die and replacements can't be found. The current ovens are decades old and still work fine, but I guess that's not likely to repeat itself, given the life expectancy of current appliances. It may be time to look at those plans again and see if there's a way to steal 3 inches......See Morespeed oven as toaster oven?
Comments (2)Another Advantium owner here. So I don't know the specifics of the Electrolux. I agree with what sophie123 said. It has more than replaced our toaster oven, and microwave. I haven't tried it, but I think the Advantium could bake with just the upper halogen, and lower ceramic elements, without using convection, but I don't think I'd bother setting it up that way. I baked some quick Jiffy muffins last night in a silicone muffin pan, on the metal speedcook tray, using straight convection bake after preheating. 11 Minutes. They come out pretty even, probably helped by both the convecton circulation, and the rotating speedcook tray. PS, I also pull out my cheap toaster when I just want to make some toast for breakfast....See MoreAdvice Needed -- countertop oven
Comments (7)Oh yes, the thing gets very hot, no insulation whatsoever to speak of...but it's obvious you DON"T TOUCH such an appliance when it's in operation. It's quite bulky too - frankly I would not be happy with it on the main countertop in my kitchen... I have it back in my breakfast nook which has become a de facto Butler's Pantry and contains my unsightly cheapo fridge, microwave and the Breville oven. My newly remodelled kitchen looks much better, IMHO, for the absence of the gadgetry on the countertops. The exception is my Breville toaster which is used constantly... now that IS a fine gadget, and sturdy. As far as the Breville oven goes, I use it for frozen pizza and the like. I have also baked fish etc in it but I would never attempt a cake or anything. Perhaps it would be fine, I don't know. It is handy when you need only a small oven for reheating and the like. I certainly think it is nicer than most of the toaster ovens out there - as it should be for the price :). Good luck!...See MoreCan speed oven replace toaster oven and microwave?
Comments (15)We have the full size Breville toaster oven bought for the kitchen reno and the Bosch speed oven. I really couldn't live without either now. I guess you could toast bread on broil in the speed oven but that mean you would have to get the rack out and it's just not as convenient or time saving. Having the versatility of both ovens makes me happy. We also have the side opening Bosch oven which is the star of the kitchen regarding how awesome the food comes out of it and ease of use....See Morecat_mom
