Doesnt look like too bad a price for what you are getting.
Yes you can buy MS office and load it on both machines. Your daughters school may have an option to buy software for students (considerably cheaper)
I dont like McAfee as a security suite or AV Protection.
Not a big fan of Symantec either (Norton). You would be better of with a free AV (Avast or AVG) and free Zone Alarm for a firewall

Mindy et al, I got that tall blue pot I had my eye on. It might have been $200 marked down to 40 marked down to TEN DOLLARS. I also got a big metal/copper bucket marked down from at least 150 to $37.50 (I don't think she did the math right. I'll have to check in the morning. I had wanted something like a watering trough near the bees, and this might fill the bill. Or we can use it for logs. That magnificient green pot. I met the nice guy who works the floor. I told him what I wanted to pay for it and without my knowing it he called the ?manager? anyway a woman, and she no way was she going below $160. I think the problem is there was no pink marked down price, so it was 75 % off 699. I really don't want to pay that much because I know I won't move it in freezing weather, and it may break. I'm only willing to risk 100 or less. If anyone can talk them down to $100 or less, I'll take you to LaPatisserie for lunch or Quebrada in Arlington for a cake. Could also do Lakota for a dozen cookies. There's a challenge for the bargainers out there! I'll pay you back in cash and could even meet you at Mahoneys to load and transport pot. Mindy, I saw two "maroonish" pots (one upside down, the other on top) on the pallet, next to the sky blue tall. Are those the ones you are talking about? If there was a salmon pot in the "transition room" I missed it entirely. I'm not looking at your post right this second, but I thought you said it had some branches dispayed it it. I'll look again, maybe when I check to see if the christmas tree is marked down. I wasn't too offended by the look of its branches. But then I had pots on my mind. Marie

You don't need to remove the current one in Device Manager. In fact, if you do, it will reinstall next time you reboot. Many people use external keyboards with laptops because they don't like the layout or relatively cramped keyboards the laptops have. She can attach a new external keyboard to fix it. If your friend travels and doesn't want to lug an external keyboard around, she can get a new keyboard for the laptop. That will be considerably more expensive and will also require the laptop to be taken apart to remove the keyboard and replace it. If it were mine, I'd probably live with the external keyboard unless I needed to replace something else, then kill two birds with one stone.

There are a few games out there for children that age. I bought a couple of them for my just turned 4 year old grandsons for Christmas. I bought them Uno Moo--a variation of the card game uno with animals. I also got them Yahtzee JR. again a variation of the origional aimed at 4 year olds. There is also one called Picture Domino's--played like regular domino's only you match pictures. I have bought them old maid cards with animals, which we played without the old maid and just dealt out 3 cards and turned over the rest on a pile one by one. When a card turned up that matched one in his hand he could put it with his and take another one off the pile. The winner has the most cards, but most times we didn't count the winners or losers. Just look around there is lots out there and what's saying you have to play the way they say. You can make up your own rules to suit playing with your youngster. Something else my grandsons like doing is putting together jig saw puzzles. You can start with 8 or 12 pieces and work your way up to however many pieces you want

I personally would be happy with very little or no Christmas decor - I have tubs and tubs in the basement too. I've pared down but, every year I put out the outdoor lights, setup the tree and take everything out of the built in bookshelf so the Christmas village has a home. I do this for my son because he gets so much pleasure out of it and I know at 11 years old, he'll only be interested in all of this for a few more years. Your six year old's stocking hanging is precious. Enjoy letting them decorate the house - they get so much pleasure out of Christmas at this age - it doesn't have to be overboard, but can still look festive. For the last few years, my son has "decorated" the tree. We have a prelit artificial tree, so all I have to do is set it up and plug it in. I used to get so stressed about where every ornament was and whether the little ones were on top etc. One year he told me - I'll do it Mom, you don't have to worry! I think we was about 9 at the time. So in total frustration with the whole holiday gig I said - sure have at it. Of course only the bottom half of the tree had ornaments, and I controlled myself to the point of only rearranging a few so they were a little more balanced. It was still very pretty, and I wasn't exhausted and stressed at the end, so now he decorates the tree and I do the Christmas Village. Somehow DH gets out of all this Christmas decor setup...hmmm!

I don't think you can load both machines with one copy of MS Office - at least not the WORD portion of it. You must register WORD after 30 days for it to continue to work, and you can only register it on one machine. I don't know if the key code they give you will then work on the other machine.

Check the Student price for MS Office, as Genes suggested. The price is considerably less. You usually need some type of proof - either a student ID or a copy of a grade report.

The first laptop has the better video chip (GPU) and more memory. Check out Open Office (free). Its programs (Word, spreadsheets etc) are all compatible with MS Office. Unless it is mandatory from the school that these kids need MS Office

Here is a link that might be useful: Open Office
