This is happening on one of my computers. Frustrating! Double click on the icon near the clock and when the window appears click to update. Most of the time that works but on occasion I have needed to do it twice

I just got on my computer and it took 8 tries to get it to update. Its a chronic problem (check their website forums) and I'm getting frustrated with the time its taking them to fix it. I creates problems for me at work and home.

I'm wondering if the paid version has the same problems. I'm giving them another week (I love this AV) then I'll go back to Avast.

Have any of you had updates for the past 3 days requiring a reboot? It's AVG 8 on Win XP Home.

No need for a reboot on my updates of late Pam. There was a major update tonight but it never called for a reboot either.

Jane if you are unsure of returning to Avast you could try Avira. It's only drawback is a large nag screen appears every time there is an update. Irritating but only needs one click to clear off the screen.

Same problem with AVG on vista home premium.

I have been having that problem with AVG for a while now too.

I am considering changing to Avast.

It doesn't bother me enough to change it. I am pretty familiar with AVG and still believe it's a good product, besides I enjoy a challenge âº

A number of times during the past few weeks, when I check for update, I get a pop-up message from AVG that the connection to the server has failed. It may take until that evening to finally get an update, but eventually I do. None of them have required a reboot. I have AVG 8 on WinXP SP2.

I like AVG enough to stick with it, unless it gets too frustrating to bother with.

OP never said what version of AVG. Using AVG 7.5, XP-2. I had update problems for quite a while recently. Not sure if it was part of the update problems they refer to now, but I finally found a link to DL 7.5 again. Part of the install was removal of the old installation. It was easy and is working perfectly now, just as I'd become accustomed to.

Can post link if you're looking for 7.5. Support may end 12/31/08 but I'm willing to stick with it as long as its supported. Love programs that do what they promise without slowing things down or constant nagging. Sandy
