Which program?????? help?

My newspaper has a column about computers,etc. It posted a site some time ago where you can try free or download a free program which was supposed to be the best, in the author's opinion, of speeding up your computer and cleaning out all the junk. I don't remember the name of the site and cannot find the paper I saved. Thanks in advance. Pk

i don't know the answer, but our local newspaper has a web site and i can find the newspaper articles there. just Google the name of your paper and city.

I get confusing information when I check the Liftmaster parts. I find you should be using 81LM rather than 61LM. I do know that Sears still sells the remote for your opener. Their part number is 53778. It may not be available at the retail store but is available at their parts depots. If you are dealing with a Liftmaster dealer they should have the correct info for you.

I use Quicken for some of those kinds of things you mention rushmom - it seems like it could work well for you. My bank does charge $3 per month but it is well worth it to me. You may be able to do these things in a spreadsheet but I think it would be much easier in Quicken since that's what the program is designed for. I have all my paychecks and regular bills set up as scheduled transactions in Quicken so they come up on schedule automatically. I enter all my other bills in Quicken when I get them with a date in line with when they will be due - and then enter them for payment through my online banking on the due date. My method of budget is just pull all my investments and savings out first, then allocate all the major bills and then whatever is left can be spent. When it's gone that's it until next payday. I manage to what I see left in Quicken - not whatever might appear to be in my bank account. This has worked really well for us. I also download transactions from the bank every day or two and then catch any unknown debit or ATM transactions DH has made and not informed me of. This alone has saved me a lot of trouble and prevented unexpected surprises. I always feel like I know exactly where I stand.

Thanks.. Yes you need to change the SW-2 set-up switch to on when using a two stage stat. I decided to order a old style mercury switch type two stage stat because Iv heard you'd be lucky getting 10 years from a programmable stat. More like 5 or less. My old T87 still works after 40 years so I decided to stick with a mechanical. I just want my furnace to run on first stage and remain there during low load conditions. When using it with a single stage stat and SW2 off, it would kick into high heat after 16 minutes.. Then immediately over shoot and turn off. Kind of annoying. I could continue using the T87 and turn SW2 on which would lock out high heat but I would need to flip it back when it gets really cold out. Here is a link that might be useful:

Try the Ikea one for something very basic. Or Sketch Up. Both are free. For paid, the homeowner version of Chief Architect, usually labeled with BH&G's label is pretty easy to learn.

Well you might try using Ccleaner then doing a defrag, that's a good start. Then if you are comfortable you could
click Start
click Run
type msconfig
click OK
look for the Startup tab and VERY carefully check each entry finding those that do not need to start every time you start your computer. Those you find simply remove the check mark. Once finished you will be required to reboot

NOTE, on reboot a scary notice appears threatening dire consequences. Read then place a check mark in the box so you will not see this on each boot up. Click OK and you should be set to go.

But do be sure you check each entry before stopping. Google each entry if necessary.

I've used Pitt Stop. They have something called the Optimizer. It's free and you let it run. Probably does similar to CCleaner, but points out issues which might slow down your computer. I don't know how good it is, but I've tried it a few times without problems. I always use CCleaner to clean out cookies.

I too use PC Pitstop's Optimiser, it is a handy and free tool. The secret is to click on each of the items listed at the end of the test. This then explains the problem and offers details on how to fix the problem. You can pay them $29 (I think that is the fee) but all the work can be done by you as they offer a step by step explanation.
