Joe I cancelled my cable TV and saved almost $100 a month. I started buying movies and series with the savings. Walmart has 1900 +....$5. movies online. No digging in bins. No commercials and can pause when someone comes to the door or phone rings.

My tv hasn't been turned on in over a year since I canceled my 'Brighthouse cable tv service that cost like 70 dollars a month for nothing special. TV used to run 24 hours per day and suck 80 or more watts of power. So I saved more than just that 70 dollars to brighthouse .

I've learned to live with my 70 dollars per month overpriced Verizon 8mb dsl with phone, and maybe have watched 6 movies over the past year from hulu or others. Lots of online news, lots of jay leno, and a few other tv shows online for free. Which reminds me, nbc full episodes .. todays Monday .. the Blacklist is on tonight. But I cant see it until tomorrow .. oh well.. what do I expect.. for free !

someday I'm gonna buy a tv antenna, maybe.

Zep, I can't help much but the learning is what I really like.

You probably know more then you think, just from hanging around. I'll bet in your circle of friends some of them come to you for help or ask questions, You don't always realize what you know or how much you know until you talk to someone who knows very little. Stick around... There's nothing on TV :)

I've never had a Comcast DVR but I did used to have a UVERSE DVR. It allowed me hit pause and later make use of the "skip?" button to fast-forward though the commercials. I didn't use "On Demand" though, so I don't know for certain that it would have worked the same or not.

I paid around $70USD mostly so I could watch "TVLand", "The History Channel", and occasionally the news. My $70 got me exactly zero high def channels, which is less than I get with rabbit ears.

Truthfully, I rarely watch live TV. I even had to check IMDB to learn that "Walking Dead" wasn't a movie, but a TV series that started back in 2010.

I have been watching the Jesse Stone movies. Recently I watched Centennial, the longest mini series on TV. Very good. I don't remember ever seeing it before. There was a young lieutenant in it and I new I should know him. It was Mark Harmon and he was so young, I didn't recognize him. I have all of NCIS.

Comcast tech seemed ok. I got in a "loop" about using the Comcast dvr and also watching the same show using the on demand function. He said both shows are "files" that you control or have the ability to FF thru. He was not 100% sure about dvr FF ability with the walking dead show. Sez it might also be disabled.

We use a Roku box. My wife just starting watching Walking Dead on Netflix.
Netflix doesn't have commercials in each show. Hulu+ does.
Using Hulu+ we can't FF thru the commercials, but can the episodes.

Ah, roku? So AMC provides show. Comcast delivers show. But u can also pay for high speed Internet from Comcast and use roku box to watch newest walking dead episode AND not have Comcast cable?

I don't have Comcast. I get DSL and cable TV through the local phone co-op.
I bought the Roku box. I pay for Netflix and Hulu+
I could drop cable TV and still have DSL.
