Making a copy does not require the computer so that is not much help really. Have you tried disconnecting the USB from the printer while it is on? There should be a 2 tone sound as this is done, plugging it back in the 2 tone sound is reversed. If there is no sound (assuming the speakers on of course) then either the cable is damaged or the printer might be shot. My hubby is not the geek, I am. He set it up, and it's never worked. After 8 months of not having the full functionality of the 4 in 1, I thought I'd try. The software is installed for the printer. On the Network page in Win8, it shows my laptop, the cpu, but not the printer. If I right clik on the printer( on the Printer page) it shows it's offline and not connected. The printer says it is not connected to the web. It seems to be stuck on "FAX". Due to bad lighting and the cpu and printer being in a cabinet, I can't see where to unplug the printer from cpu. The directions for the printer installation are not straightforward, they change pages. After the page change, I do not get the display that the instructions show I should have on the printer. I was under the impression that the usb cable was not needed with a wi-fi connection. I do not get a wi-fi connection with the usb or without it. When it's light out, and I can see the black cable in a black cabinet bottom, I'll unplug the usb and uninstall the whole thing and start over. Which is what I should have done to start with. I googled for the wireless network settings on your printer. Sorry, but I am an HP woman :-) The link below has screen shots if a visual presentation is more your style. Here they are nearly verbatim: Selecting Wireless Network Settings From the Control Panel You can select or change wireless network settings using your product control panel. To install your product on a wireless network, follow the instructions on the Start Here sheet and install the necessary software from the product CD. The installer program guides you through network setup. Note: Breakdown or repair of this product may cause loss of fax and network data and settings. Epson is not responsible for backing up or recovering data and settings during or after the warranty period. We recommend that you make your own backup or print out your fax and network data and settings. Press the Setup button. Press the arrow buttons to select Network Settings and press the OK button. Here is where you see your network name and choose to remove or forget the network, then run the wizard. Select Wireless LAN Setup and press the OK button. You see this screen: Select Setup Wizard and press the OK button. Note: If you need to disable the wireless network to set up your product on an Ethernet network, select Disable Wireless LAN instead. Thanks, I did call the tech back and we found out that Microsoft Office does not have a tool button, That was changed to the sort button in the upper left hand corner. Not sure what is going on now. Still trying to solve the problem Thanks marie
