Sticky Notes?

The one problem that I see as far as this forum goes is: When folks ask for help, they usually leave out the important information.

The information that I refer to is: Operating System, Browser used etc. etc.

We could really use a way to post sticky notes so as to cut down on the unnecessary .. "What OS, What Browser questions".

Wonder why this option isn't available?

it is just the extremely basic features this forum uses it is very very lacking. Most forums allow signatures so we could add that info to the bottom of each of our posts, not so here.

Not trying to beat a horse to death, on the homepage banner is a directive, "Before posting a question, please check the FAQ and do a search to make sure it hasn't already been answered". Under the FAQ's is "Asking for Help...Items to Include in Your Post/Request. Here's what it says:

When requesting help, please try to include some or all of the following information if possible:
(Right-click "My Computer", "Properties" to find specifications)

-The make and model of the computer, or a "no name" unit built by a local shop or yourself.
-The processor brand name and speed.
-The amount of installed RAM.
-The operating system..for example: XP (SP2?), ME, 2000, 98, 98SE etc., and whether or not it has been updated.
-The browser(s)you are using, IE (5.5, 6.0 etc.), Opera, Firefox, Netscape (4.79 etc.).
-The anti-virus program you are using, and if it is up to date.
-Any other items that will help us understand your system.

Try to indicate the area of your problem in the Subject line.
(Please don't title your post "Help!!!")

Please try not to address your post to any one person.
There are varying levels of experience on our forum and members enjoy contributing when they can...

In your post:
-Describe the problem completely, and as best you can, any significant events you noticed which occured prior to the problem. -Describe what steps (if any) you have taken to correct the problem.
-Tell us if any programs have been recently installed or uninstalled.
-Let us know if you have rebooted (restarted) your computer since the problem began.
(Note: rebooting solves a multitude of glitches and hiccups)

Please include any other information that might help us zero in on the problem.

I see some usefulness of the STICKY note feature, like in the Seed Exchange Forum. But, now more are being added here and there like advertisements (recently in the Botany Forum, for instance). GardenWeb has enough advertisements already! The use of unnecessary STICKY notes is distracting and annoying. I hope in the future they will be used only when necessary, and, that they will be removed after a brief period from where they have been placed unnecessarily.

Craftee -- isn't it great? I'm very excited about it too. When I had first heard of it I think I subconsciously assumed it was just a STRIP -- 'cause of the "seam" part of the name and just dismissed it. Paegan -- I wonder if you got a bad batch of something. I'm trying to imagine how the liner could release too soon. It didn't come off of my stuff *that* easily. I was going to say "I'll buy yours from you!" but I wonder if it's not a bad batch. The way I was taught to use it you figure out which side the liner comes off easiest and place that side down against the drawing and trace the pic onto the other side (looking through it). Then cut LARGER around that and peel the "easy" side off and stick that to the back of your fabric. Then cut through it and the fabric exactly on the line -- then you peel the back liner off and it's "sticky" and you can position and reposition it. Mine definitely wasn't coming off so easy that it ever would have just started falling off during that process.

Thanks Ladies...... Cat - I don't think the judge would have really listened to both sides if the claims BM made did not seem so outrageous and DH and I had not been collecting all of the information we did. BM in this case really took it way to far with the false allegations.... she claimed DH's entire family and myself and daughter were all against and abusing SD..... Of course the worse things were pointed against myself. But we had tons of things to counter as well..... pictures, dvd's of family events and vacations we took SD on, and the other things BM left as a paper trail.... letters from the school, daycares and doctor. It was extremely stressful to have to go through a BM trying to take away joint custody from my DH simply because he got married and to see all the lies and allegations.... BUT like the judge said - because DH got on that stand and said he did not want to take custody away from BM - he just wanted to have a peaceful relationship with his daughter and was willing to give BM another shot at trying to be mature - the judge as she put it is giving BM "custody probabtion" and hopefully BM will take her words to heart. We have been so much more peaceful at our home - and just to see SD be more peaceful when we pick her up or when she comes - lets us know that maybe the alienation for now has ceased. I just am hoping the situation remains peaceful for now - and this story may help someone else out in some kind of way.
