Steam-a-Seam2 is WONDERFUL!

Just have to rave about this product. Someone mentioned it a while back & I found some at Joanns tonight. I was having problems with the by-the-yard fusibles, so had to try this & a bonus that it was a "no iron" alternative. It comes in a pkg of 5 sheets of 9x12 for $3.99. That price is comparable to what I've been paying by the yard. Plus I used my 40% coupon.

It's slightly sticky on both sides so it sticks to the fabric enough to cut your picture without ironing. Kind of like a sticky note (but more secure) Peel the backing away, position applique on your background & fuse!

You don't iron anything until you are ready to permanently bond it to your project. I bought the LITE version so the appliques would not be stiff. Awesome awesome awesome!

I've only used it for 1 applique tonight & I'm loving this stuff already!

You've had a better experience than I have. The stuff always falls apart on me. The liner releasing too soon. I purchased a bunch of it to do one of McKenna Ryan's quilts. Her patterns always have many many tiny pieces to be fused. It was a disaster. I have 8 packages of the stuff in my quilt room somewhere that I will probably never use. I went back to Wunder Under. I'm glad it is working better for you.

Part of the idea of cooking with steam is the faster transferance of heat. Air by itself is not very good at transfering heat as water is. Steam allows a faster transfer of heat to the product being cooked. Also when the steam is above 212Ã¯Â¿Â½F it's what they call a dry steam. Meaning that when water is in a gas state it is a completely dry which will allow for roasting.

Wondering if anyone knows anything about this new combination steam/microwave/convection oven from Sharp. I think it's just shipping now so not finding any real-world advice or reviews but thought I'd check here. Interested in a steam oven but space is a premium in my upcoming remodel so the all-in-one unit is very appealing (nevermind the price). Thanks! steam washer or steam dryer?

I'm sure there will be others more informed than I am but here's what I heard today while appliance shopping. I asked the salesperson about the differences btw the steam wash and steam dry. As you indicate, they advertise the wash as being stain removal and the dry as being wrinkle removal. The sales person said that the cycles are pretty much the same thing. He noted that the LG dryer uses a water dish for the steam while the washer takes water from the water supply going to the washer. One other brand (I forget which - someone will know) has a water supply from the washer to the dryer. I am hoping to get wrinkle removal but I only need the washer. Frankly, it seems like the dryer would be better at wrinkle removal. I already have a spare dryer at home. The salesperson said the washer would work to refresh clothes and remove wrinkles. Incidently, I have a HUGE problem with wrinkles using my Whirlpool FL. However, I just learned that it's mostly caused by the small drum size of the particular washer/dryer pair we own (2.3, I think) We purchased this set because we had a small area for appliances in our old house. Now that we've moved, we have two hook-ups and DH hooked up our old dryer, which has a large drum and the wrinkle problem is much, much less.

Craftee -- isn't it great? I'm very excited about it too. When I had first heard of it I think I subconsciously assumed it was just a STRIP -- 'cause of the "seam" part of the name and just dismissed it.

Paegan -- I wonder if you got a bad batch of something. I'm trying to imagine how the liner could release too soon. It didn't come off of my stuff *that* easily. I was going to say "I'll buy yours from you!" but I wonder if it's not a bad batch.

The way I was taught to use it you figure out which side the liner comes off easiest and place that side down against the drawing and trace the pic onto the other side (looking through it). Then cut LARGER around that and peel the "easy" side off and stick that to the back of your fabric. Then cut through it and the fabric exactly on the line -- then you peel the back liner off and it's "sticky" and you can position and reposition it. Mine definitely wasn't coming off so easy that it ever would have just started falling off during that process.

Have you tried warming the release paper a smidgen to get it to stick? One tip that the package said was to warm the fabric with the iron if it doesn't stick well. Once I did that & it worked wonderfully. if you are still having problems with it, e-mail or call the company with your problems. They might be able to help.
