How long should a Liebherr refrigerator last?
Comments (9)makes me laugh since you point out how the thinking behind the question may be flawed. Allow me to broaden the question. I have seen web sites say that 7 or 8 cubic feet of fridge volume are plenty for a couple. This is the volume in a 24" fridge-freezer. Predicting life expectancy works best when you have a large fleet of the same things. Pooled results corresponds somewhat to the predicted results. Single devices vary a lot; there is much less correlation. So yes I agree there is something inane about thinking of a single device's future life span. Any fully integrated fridge has to get rid of condensation water by evaporating it and blowing it back into the room. (H20 condenses out of the fridge air after you let room air into it. An eternal cycle.) Is your house air dry? If so, your fridge is under less stress, permanently. This one little factor determines the mileage because X thousand days of working ten times as hard as another fridge will shorten its life expectancy. So putting a dehumidifier behind the fridge will be good for it and also good for your kitchen micro-climate if you like drier air. Fridges fight against humidity after they do the easier work of creating cold by moving heat across a few inches of space. Just for the intellectual exercise of comparing oranges to oranges, the Danish Vestfrost and the Turkish Blomberg / Arçelik are I believe the closest comparisons, and these two firms named are real factory owner-operators. In Europe just as here you will find appliances made by a factory for another company that puts its name on it. So tongue in cheek, Liebherrs will last as long as any other Danish or Turkish fridge built with the same components. HTH -david...See Moreliebherr 48' frig vs. kitchenaid (long)
Comments (6)A while ago, I knew these Liebherr's backwards and forwards, but we decided to go a different route. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 48" only has the 1 bottom freezer. You will have the all frig on the right and then the biofresh/freezer on the left? My biggest issue with the Liebherr was the freezer. The only set up that would give me 2 freezers on the bottom would have been 2 30" built in's. I didn't want to spend the money and didn't have 60" of space to dedicate. I do love the Liebherr's, but we also shove a ton of stuff into our freezer. I just don't think it all would've fit into the 1 freezer, even with removing the bins. Can you just buy a small freezer and put in your basement or garage for extra storage? What about freezer drawers elsewhere in the kitchen?...See MoreAnyone else upset or just me????
Comments (44)Twas the month before Christmas When all through our land, Not a Christian was praying Nor taking a stand. Why the Politically Correct Police had taken away, The reason for Christmas - no one could say. The children were told by their schools not to sing, About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things. It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say December 25th is just a " Holiday ". Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it! CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod Something was changing, something quite odd! Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda. As Targets were hanging their trees upside down At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found. At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears. Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty Are words that were used to intimidate me. Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton ! At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter. And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace. The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded The reason for the season, stopped before it started. So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree" Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me. Choose your words carefully, choose what you say Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday !...See MoreAnyone else glad when this year ends on Saturday? (long)
Comments (24)I hope 2017 is a better year for you...and all of us. I am sorry the relationship didn't work out and sorry for the loss of your friend. Hugs to you on both accounts. 2016 wasn't the best year for me either....although, I admit, I have had worse...or, some pretty bad years anyway. My husband was in the hospital for 3 weeks, Thanksgiving, 2015. Then he couldn't work for six months. Throw in some boat break downs...more out of work. His brother died in July. They were very close...close in age...11 mo apart, and close in every way. A few months ago, his deckhand fell over board and was in the water for about 30 minutes before he missed her and found her. The water was very choppy, and the net swung around, hit her and knocked her over board. Thank goodness she used to have a pool and is an excellent swimmer. I would have drowned as soon as I went in the water. A couple of weeks ago, he was coming in from shrimping, coming across the bay, at 8 a.m. Had a good morning...on his way back to the dock early. Hit a pipeline that wasn't adequately marked. The buoy was the size of a basket ball and should have been about 4' in diameter. Got a rope and a cable in the propeller and hit so hard that it broke the bell housing off of his transmission. He has had a hard time finding a used one to buy. New is about $2900. He filed a claim and the oil company will pay but from just before Christmas, to after New Year's....they are shut down. So, we wait.......... Well, it sounds like all the bad luck befell my husband, but it all affects me too. Plus, I hurt my shoulder when one of the jacks reared up and I held on to him and then he came down and his hoof hit my back, right where my shoulder joins. I was leading him by holding onto the halter (without a lead rope) and I shouldn't have done that. I don't know when it stopped hurting....it just dawned on me today that it doesn't hurt any more....but now my hip is very bad and I am in constant pain from that. Likewise, can't get a hold of my doctor until after the first. So.......I wait. Yes, I will be glad to see 2017!...See Moredodge59
