RC, thank you. I guess I asked the wrong question. What I was trying to do was see if I needed to update Google search engine, and all I could find was how to update google chrome. Could you clue me in on where to find out if I need to update Google search engine? I'm using FF on my pc xp-pro, and also on my Macbook, Leopard 10.5.8 thanks Jann

When it comes to security, though, isn't there something to be said in favor of FF + NoScript, esp. in light of all the dangerous things out there that use Java ? (I speak as a huge novice here.) Being able to selectively allow scripts with NoScript (which blocks all by default) is a bit of an advantage to other browsers with functions which only allow users to turn Java on or off. Or, in Opera's case, one can 'edit site preferences' to allow or disallow all scripts on a per site basis, but it's still allowing ALL scripts on a given site. One cannot select which ones to allow/disallow. Giving the user the ability to allow just a script associated with the main site while blocking all other unnecessary scripts from running is a boon for web-surfers, no ? I realize that there are some NoScript wannabees out there (NotScript, ScriptNo) which work with Chrome & Opera, but a lot of comments I read about them suggest they are not as user-friendly and not as efficient as the original NoScript, which (unfortunately for IE, Chrome and Opera users) only works with FF. How important should this matter be for chas045 and the rest of us when choosing a browser ?

Dar there is no reason not to go ahead and keep spywareblaster it will not cause any problems and will keep you protected in other ways, it may not protect you when using Chrome but it does still protect you, if you look at the main page when spywareblaster opens you will see it lists all the ways it protects you and that one browser is just one of several so definitely continue to use it and update it, when you update it and click enable all protection it will show you all the areas of protection also. It does not conflict with Chrome and it may well work, when you enable all protection on your spywareblaster you will see it listed in the green list if it is protecting it.

Vickey, I know this sounds really dumb for someone who has been hanging around the KT for over 10 years, BUT....... How do you get to safemode when the computer is running? I don't even remember how to do it when starting up the computer. My XP is not like 98 and I don't think I have used safemode since the switch.
