Leopard report

FWIW....bought Leopard last week and installed onto 2-year-old iMac. (Formerly used Tiger). Smooth install. About an hour. No problems. All existing data and settings intact. No readjusting or restructuring of anything required. Everything runs a little faster -- not a lot, but noticeable. The new features that I've tried all work as-represented. I assume there are some bugs in there somewhere, but I haven't encountered any.

With 300+ new features, Leopard is the most impressive Mac OS X version yet.

* Time Machine
* Mail

* Spaces
* Safari

* Boot Camp
What more could you ask for.

Again, FWIW....after a week of use and trial....for my purposes, most of the new features of Leopard are just variations (most of them well thought out and useful) on things one can already do pretty easily. Net benefit, but not decision-makers in the greater scheme IMHO. The one exception is Time Machine backup procedure. This, alone, is worth the upgrade. Brainlessly easy and automatic backup procedure that every computer in existence should have. It's slick and thorough. Really like it.

Notwithstanding my lukewarm opinion of most of the new features, must admit that the upgrade was easy and appears to be solid. Everything I've tried works as-represented.

Ryan, it was a pleasure to meet and talk with you. My son said he thought I was going to talk all night! We found about what everyone else found that Saturday. What a great place to herp! Next year we will have more time. Maybe I can visit with everyone then that I didn't get to talk to this time.

Congrats on your salamanders! It was nice meeting you when the guy named Jim was holding the Mississippi Green Water snake. I thought I had some good film of my son holding it but when I returned home I found out my camcorder was not recording correctly. Time for a new one! A real bummer about my film but still had a great time there last weekend.

Nice report Ryan! I'm really hoping to find a few of the finds u made today, such as the Mississippi Green, Marbled Salamander, or Bird-Voiced Tree Frog, before the season ends. I really wish I had a car, or even a bike down here at SIU, being right on the edge of the Shawnee Forest! I'm just dying to get out to some places and start looking!
