Miele 30' MasterChef Oven temp is WAY off
Comments (3)Check out the link below, larsi. I Think Rocogirl has the best advice on how to deal with this type of problem, with the Miele oven. I have done a lotta googling about the problem even ran into a site where 68 Miele Ovens had been installed in "UpScale Apartments". Many or most of the tenants were complaining about low temps and taking too long to bake. Check for yourself, Goggle Miele Oven Temps. From what I read and have read, it just seems to be the "Nature of the Beast' and Rococo's advice I think will help you the most."IE Use a Fudge Factor" (Paraphrasing) Most us folks here do not "Match" appliances (use the same manufacturer for every appliance). As has been stated by some of our experts here, "No one manufacturer Excells at every appliance", Not even Miele. I have a Miele Optima DW, it's Great. But I have an Elux Icon Oven---it too is great. Thank you for your Honesty, You are Obviously "Solidly in the Miele Camp" but it helps our users here "The Most", when we "Tell It Like It Is" Hope it works out for YOU!!!! Comments (15)The resurrection of this thread is perfect timing. I'm planning on a six burner 36 inch Culinarian range, and had been up in the air about an additional oven. DW and I were in an appliance store in Tampa yesterday, and since we don't do a tremendous amount of baking, the Miele Speed Oven and a warming drawer seem to be a good complement for us to the large gas oven of the range (whether an additional full size wall oven, in addition or instead of the Speed Oven, would be better or resale purposes at some point down the road is another matter). In comparing the two, my bride much preferred the more conventional controls of the Chef series SO. Even though she's still likely to want a dedicated microwave oven (doesn't trust that the SO will do that and hold up over time), she didn't like having to push the Master Chef menu buttons through about three levels to get to the point where she could enter the numbers for a straight microwave task. OTOH, the combination of different modes one can use is so staggering to an untutored barbarian such as me that I have to wonder whether the Master Chef would ultimately show me how to get that much more value/use from the SO. For example, DW likes to take a frozen filet of salmon and nuke it. To me, it's hot and edible, but that's about all I can say for it. I can imagine the Master Chef first defrosting, then roasting that same block of salmon in a much more appealing fashion than straight nuking. I just wonder how many pieces of fish I'd ruin if experimenting with the Chef oven before breaking the code for times and modes of cooking. :-) I grill 90% of the fish I prepare (gas grill or over hardwood charcoal on the back porch), so the oven roasting would definitely be a new experience for me....See MorePlease help! Wall ovens driving me crazy--Wolf, Miele, Dacor?
Comments (53)Take it from me what CR says about Thermador wall ovens is absolutely true. I have purchased two 30" C series Thermador ovens and am getting ready to replace the one that was existing in the home we purchased last year. Loved the way my Thermador's cooked, baked, and broiled but had to have them repaired. It seems there is insufficient insulation between the oven and the electric control panel and when you use the self clean, over time, it causes the control panel to fail. This is a minimum $1,000 repair. I live in Dallas and there is only ONE company in this area that will service Thermador ovens because Thermador service dept is so difficult to deal with. My regular service company which is efficient and costs are fair told me they stopped servicing Thermador ovens for that reason and three others I tried said the same thing. Both my Thermador ovens needed the control panel replaced within three years of purchasing and the one in our new home could not pass inspection and had to be repaired by the seller before we moved in - yep it was the panel and it cost them $1,200. They didn't cook and it was an older oven. The space we have for the wall oven is 27" and after looking and looking and doing research and reading here and other web sites with independent reviews by actual owners we have chosen the Miele Master Chef Classic Series which has the Novatronic controls which everyone seems to love. This choice was made in part because of the rotisserie feature which we do use quite a bit along with other features we liked and which were well reviewed. It was more expensive but we went with a straight Microwave which suites our needs and we chose the Electrolux Ei27MO45TS microwave which meets all our needs and was well reviewed. Went with the Miele warming drawer because of the match and the fact that it was the same price as most other warming drawers we were considering. We stack our ovens in an unusual way which we really like with the actual wall oven first, then the microwave, and then the warming drawer. It is logical to us because the heaviest items come out of the oven and having it at the top means no stooping and it's easier on the back. We usually only use the warming drawer when we entertain and to reheat leftovers which it does so much better than a microwave. Still trying to decide on which Fridge and Freezer columns to choose but that's another forum...See MoreMiele Steam v Gaggenau Combi Steam/Bake
Comments (3)The Thermador combi oven might match Miele style a bit better than the Gaggenau. As far as I can tell, the Thermador is missing two features of the Gaggenau ED220-series: 1) not plumbed, and 2) for combi-mode, it seems to only have one level of steam available in combination with the convection mode, where the Gaggenau has 4. You and also press a button for up to 8 seconds per push, to add extra moisture in combi mode (maybe for breads?). It still does lots more than the Miele steam oven. I would have to do lots and lots of steaming to buy the Miele rather than just using my cooktop. Here is a link that might be useful: Thermador combi oven...See More- 13 years ago
