Homepage to big for screen

How can I downsize my new homepage to fit the screen? Currently, I'm having to scroll across the screen.

Hold down on the CTRL Key and roll the wheel on your mouse.
If that doesn't resize your screen, than change your resolution.
Right click your empty screen on your desktop - left click properties - click settings - move slider bar to less - this gives you 800 x 600 - you have 15 seconds to click OK - click Apply - close.
This setting is changed back the same way

Is this a page you set up? If so just make the adjustments on the html.

If you use Opera or K-Meleon the ctrl/scroll will work for adjusting page size. Firefox might too. IE probably won't.

is this a monitor you just added and now are having this problem or did this suddenly happen on a monitor you have been using? It sounds like the resolution is not set to the proper size for the monitor, look at your monitor info and find out what the preferred resolution setting should be, then go into your settings area and set the resolution slider so it corresponds with the preferred settings for that size monitor. Right click on desktop choose properties then the tab for the screen. If you tell us the model of the monitor and more info on it we could look it up and find the proper resolution setting for it.

Our back porch (not screened) is 12 x 30 with steps at each end, and it's a great size. The 12' wide means it's easy to have a table . . . and still have space to walk around without scootching sideways. My husband's a big griller and has his outdoor kitchen set up on one end (Big Green Egg + lots of toys) and we still have space a-plenty for the table and other seating on the other end. The covered porch is one of the best features of our house. Our new house has a back porch alllll the way across the back of the house, which'll be 34 feet . . . and I'm widening it from 8' to 12' so it'll be essentially the same as what we have now. And we're going with a patio instead of a wooden floor -- less maintenance. We will again NOT go with screens. Our current porch columns were placed /sized so that screens would be inexpensive to install, but we've never wanted them. We do have two ceiling fans out there, and moving air helps a great deal with bugs. We also burn Citronella candles when we're at the table.

Cray, if it's over 5 years old it might have capacitor disease. The manufacturers used cheap parts, and the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board tend to fail and the set will not come on. I've fixed a couple of them with a soldering iron and $10 worth of capacitors. If you or anyone you know can solder, it's not a difficult job and requires no fancy equipment. I usually just replace all of them on the board rather than trying to find one or two that are bad. The rest will go soon anyway ad it's cheap insurance. The values are printed on the sides and you can order replacements from mouser.com, digikey.com or if you have a local electronic parts outlet they should have them.

our family room is long and narrow (about 12 ft wide). Here is how we handled that problem. I designed this custom entertainment center and then had the same guy that built my kitchen cabinets build this. It cost me about $4500.00. That is a Direct vent valor fireplace with remote control and a 52" Sharp Aquos TV. The surround of the fireplace is Onyx and it is backlit. We like the fireplace up higher , like you see, as the heat hits us right where we need it. Good Luck!! Gary

O.K.. My new homepage was hoisted on me by ATT Yahoo.(smile)
I have tried the suggestions. No change.
800x600 is the setting. Also e-mailed ATT Yahoo.

I'd guess it to be a browser or browser setting problem.

Most web pages auto adjust to fit in the browsers, but not neccessarly the graphics on the page. Which can cause the page to widen.
Perhaps set the browser to resize images to fit your browser screen size ..and see what happens.

If that didn't fix it, and I dont have lots of custom browser configurations, I'd maybe push the default button to get all the configurations back to 'factory stock.

It has to do with the website design. Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) authoring needs to be utilized. Website design is very important now. What looks right on a 17" monitor using Internet Explorer may look really messed up on a 15" monitor running Firefox. This is due to the limitations of both hardware and software on the end users machines. When a website is authored using CSS it will automatically fit and look as it was intended on most computers (even on cell phones) regardless of the type of equipment or browser used.

This is a limited explanation, I can get a bit more technical if you'd like but it boils down to design.

Perhaps just dont use ATT.Yahoo browser or ATT.Yahoo for your home page ?

I have my own home page with my most popular links on it and a couple of weather stickers.

Hard for me to teach you how, but if you know a bit of HTML and can write a web page. Put it in MyDocuments or anyfolder and load it in your browser and set it as the start up page.

My start page is loaded with links I use ... it looks something about like this...

If you are asking how to change your homepage to another choice, open the page that you want as your homepage. Then go to "tools/internet options. On the "general" tab, select "use current Page".

I always understood to use the apply button if you were going to navigate to an additional tab on the window. In this case, the "internet options" window.

If not, what is the purpose of using the "apply" button.

jean, I cannot change the homepage to another choice. The "use current" was not an option in the "internet options".
Talk about locked in!
Mikey, I may have to get a friend to help decipher your instructions. Will post the results. Thanks for all the help : )

Use Current
is an option in IE from within IE menu, Tools, Internet Options.

Or in control panel at Internet Options, you can type in the path to the file ;example;
C:/Server/ToshIE/myIEstart.htm
or the url ;example;
http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/comphelp/
and press apply.

IE7 : Do they all say 'Windows Internet Explorer' now?
Thought they said Microsoft Internet Explorer

or am i just getting old and feeble \\ ido have newest ie7 release.
