What do people do to showrrom appliances?

We went to look at a Cornue Fe stove recently in a Williams-Sonoma. It was a Provence Blue, 43" wide version, with stainless trim. One control "knob" (for lack of a better word) was dangling from the front of the stove, possibly held on by a wire or something, the drawer was uneven, and the interior of one oven door was scratched up, probably from people shutting it with the oven racks not completed inserted. So, I am wondering, how difficult is it to make that stove appear beat to $h*&? Is it delicate or are showroom customers outrageously brutal? If anyone has this stove, please do yours is holding up to the normal amount of kitchen use.

I'm a bit appalled by Williams Sonoma's failure to make sure such a pricey item is well maintained. And I don't have anything against WS.

I have it ... At our beachhouse for all of I guess six months now. It sure doesn't SEEM at all fragile to me.

What would you expect from a chain store? check to see who your local independent dealer is. Start there.

I bought red shallot onions at Walmart and planted them early, am harvesting and using them now. Also bought onion sets and they all went to seed, so will be trying to grow onion from seed from now on. Also have Egyptian Walking onions, they have either leaves or top onions all summer, can send you some top onions if you like.

The most I ever saw was 4 people using ordinary mop buckets to carry the snow pack upwards and shovels to shape him. The mass of snow just became smaller as the temperature increased plus we had lots o' rain. For a time there was a face carved into the side that was facing the road. I believe it was supposed to be the Sphynx .. but by the time I got around to photograph that creation ... it was just a large mound of snow on someone's lawn. :-/ These people truly LOVE their snow! 8-)

Isn't she a sweetie! My three dogs were all adult 'rescue' dogs so I didn't go through the puppy stage with them. But I did keep them in individual kennels (at home) while I was working for the first few weeks. Then I restricted them to a couple of rooms using a pet gate (similar to what you'd use for a human toddler). I walked them before work, then came home for a late lunch and walked them again, then walked them after work and then once more at bedtime. Now I work full time from home and they spend most of the day in the office with me. They make great foot warmers in the winter :-) We still walk (no fenced in yard) three times a day. Before work (about 7 am), early to mid afternoon (2-4 pm), and before bed (any time from 7 to 10 pm). I think it would be very hard potty training a puppy when you can't stay home with him/her. A rule of thumb is that a puppy can handle one hour per month of age. So a 4 month old puppy should be able to go up to 4 hours without having to go out. A six month old puppy can go up to six hours, and so on. One thing I wouldn't recommend is using puppy pads in the house. I had a dog once, that was trained with puppy pads from the time she was tiny. It was an awful process re-training her, and she would still potty in the house years afterward, if the notion struck her.

We have very little closet space -we maximized the space under the stairs for jackets and shoes/gym bags. But there were 4 bags that were left out unless we took them upstairs. The credenzas behind the sofa (pictures posted previously) are working for us now. We don’t have much wall space-lots of windows to take advantage of a great view-so an armoire isn’t an option either. Thanks!

I have the stove in the 36" version. It is holding up just fine. I think WS store traffiic is akin to baggage handlers at the airport. The control knobs are removable for cleaning (held in with a small Allen screw). If someone yanked on one hard enough for long enough, they could probably damage this. No issues with my door or drawer. I've had it about 18 months.

Children probably did it. Lots of parents turn their heads and "don't notice" what their kids do. I've watched it happen.

I was at a high-end appliance store on wednesday and some of the staff were preparing an employee thanksgiving feast. They were using one oven to cook a 22 pound turkey. Another was roasting a beautiful standing rib roast.

Why would anyone consider buying this at williamsonoma? Shop local save money and support the local economy.

It is amazing what random damage can be done in a showroom. Good for you asking the question. My new Italian range is lighter than I thought it would be, and I am sure it would have been torn up on a showroom floor. Not so in our home though. Really, I wonder if only a true AGA would be impervious to the woes of the madding crowd.

Williams-Sonoma is closer to my locale than any other possible source for this stove. That is why I looked at it there. However, the rep that they said would contact me never did. I am so over the "doing things local" approach to vendors and purchases. I severely limited my choices by insisting on local sources and laborers when I built this house. I will never make that mistake again.
