Does anyone else HATE Office 2007?

Some of our school is MAC based with Microsoft Office 2003, some P/C Office 2003 and some of the new P/C's have Office 2007/. There is no continuity in that darned program. There's problems reading docs between all the systems and just driving us nuts. What were they thinking???

Is there an easy way to do this?

Sure, save the 2007 documents as Word 97-2003 Document.
File > Save As > Word 97-2003 Document.

The Microsoft Office 2003 Documents open fine in 2007.
The 2007 documents will not open in 2003, unless saved as 97-03 doc.

You could also try downloading and installing the compatibility pack linked below. Being a school you would either probably need administative rights or have the IT guy/gal do the job.

You're not alone. Try not to beat yourself up about it. I would guess most people make mistakes or have some regrets. For the house we're building, I bought a lot of materials in advance trying to scope out closeouts and such but not always thinking through how all of the materials would coordinate with each other. I also made the mistake of buying some very well priced tiles online that I didn't like as much in person when they arrived. I will end up eating some of it or trying to sell on Craigslist. Oh well. But honestly I think your selections look well coordinated and tasteful. I would not risk painting the cabinets nor would I change out the tiles or counters since you might end up with finishes that clash with each other unless you change out everything.

Susan, you're right, those stirrups in the delivery room were quite comfortable. Supported your whole leg..kind of a tray that your calves fit right on to. I liked them better too. But I dont think they are something that can be folded back into the table. At the clinic that I work at, the stirrups pull out from the table and fold out to hold the feet. I don't know where they would store the larger ones. I think those are attached to the table during delivery. So they wouldn't be practical in the clinic setting where we see so many patients a day. It sure is a nice thought tho. Then the doctor says in a sweet voice..."The key to making this exam more comfortable is to just let your legs fall to the sides" YEAH RIGHT!!!! I know my patients would rather kick him in the head when he says that. Some patients you practically need a crow bar to pry their legs open to do the exam. Hahahahaha.

@msrose,Yes, I got the spray, it is a lightweight spray and it doesn't feel oily and not at all once it is dry. It's not thick like some of the sprays are. So far I'm in awe of it but this is the second day and so far so good! I have tried so many others that like you were saying, they are oily and I would have to rub and rub to get it to do anything and then it was streaky, or else it looked good but then would dry streaked. I hope it will work well for you too. I am sure you can find it in the store for less. I got it on Amazon and by the time I paid for shipping it was $10.95 or somewhere in that neighborhood for the smaller can but I knew I would never remember to get it when I was out and about so I just paid it "this time"... a2gemini, I gave up on training DH. I think he must have been a rebellious teenager, there is some hangover from that going on, lol. Anyone else hate cooking dinner?

After I got divorced I was living alone and occassionally I would invite a lady over for a home cooked meal rather than going out someplace. My problem was that although I love to cook, I didn't have a clue what the ladies might want to eat so I hit on a solution that worked great for me. First off, I planned meals that are easy to make individual portions such as stuffed baked chicken breasts, chicken cordon bleu, Steak Florentine, Stuffed baked pork chops, Fried chicken, baked fish, broiled salmon, BBQ ribs, meatloaf, my own oriental stir fried shrimp & chicken, Saur Braten, Roast beef, lamb chops and smoked turkey, along with some sides such as shrimp fried rice, rice pilaff, wild rice, my own succotash recipe, and even some twice baked potatoes. I would devote an entire day to cooking and when I cooked I made at least 8 portions of each item and sometimes cooking two or three items in the oven at once. When they were done I put them up with the Seal-a-Meal and popped the portions in my freezer, but not before I had plated at least one portion long enough to take a picture of it, before I sealed that portion too. I then sat down to my computer and made up a menu. When the ladies showed up for dinner they would ask, whats cooking? I would simply hand them a menu and say, "Pick our what you like". The first couple times I presented the menu I got some silly looks, but they were gracious enough to stay for dinner anyway, but after that first experience they all said they wanted to do it again. When they started telling other women in our social set what I did suddenly I had lots of ladies scheming a way to get an invite....LOL Now that I am with Jan, I still enjoy cooking like that, and it is so convenient to just go out to the kitchen and select what you want.

You can quote me on this: Windows Vista and Office 2007 will be Microsoft's "New Coke".

I think MS could easily have held most of it's ground against Mac but releasing a bunch of crap software to run on a crap operating system is going to cost them a lot of customers.

Just like Coca-cola was the single best selling product in the history of planet earth until they decided to release "new coke". they allowed Pepsi to steal enough of the market to be a real competitor.

I've been using exclusively Windows since the early 90's. I just bought a new computer a few months ago but based on what I've seen of MS's latest offerings I'll certainly be looking at Mac's in 3-4 years when it's time to upgrade again. Thanks Bill.

A word of caution about the compatability pack. This may not affect you, but a customer at work installed Office 2007 on his own and the compatability pack to open documents, ect from everyone else in the company (using Office 2003). We had to reload Windows to repair the damage...issue was that in Excel 2007, the 'Save', 'Save As' and 'Print' options were grayed out. Not sure that the issue was the compatability pack, but we stronly suspected that it was. We tried everything to restore to Office 2003 or to allow 2007 to function correctly, with no relief. We did not grant him Admin rights this time ;-)

Just started testing Office 2007, see post tonight asking for help on finding how to stop the applications from searching the Internet (guess), and have to agree, Word seems to have changed everything. Well all the old stuff is there, but down one or two clicks, if you can find the right clicks.

One problem, not new to 2007, was setting Save As, Open to go to a directory of my choice, not the default "my documents" which is a set XP folder. I found one can copy a "Word" directory (say) into the dialog box, left hand side, but it is still one click away as the dialog opens in the default "My Documents".

I returned a new Notebook (Acer that had some driver problems, most likely due to Vista) a few months back and purchased some old shelf stock to get a new Notebook with XP. I also have a "free" upgrade for a Dell Desktop, but I'm not using it, staying with XP Media in that case.

Hate, hate, hate, 07. I use Word on two different computers, one with 03 and the new one with 07. The new Word is a joke. I wonder what he was smoking when he came up with this invention!

AT work I use Word '03 and I had to download and install the compatibility pack so that I could read documents sent to us by users of the '07 version. The download was quick and easy. I haven't used the new '07 version, what makes it so different besides the different file format?

Everything is different. Can't find anything. Its all hidden behind stupid buttons. Every time I need to type a letter, I have to run to the help button to find what I need. The toolbar is totally different. It took me 20 minutes to find 'Print.' After years of using Word, now you need to start all over again with this new program. Same with Excel, although the changes are less dramatic (I don't use Excel often, but my accountant son does not appreciate the changes.) I use 03 at work but also work from home. I need to carry docs from the 03 computer and work on them at home on 07. Not an easy task.

I wonder if everytime the computer freezes and we have to do a control/alt/delete and get to task manager, that we should send a message to Microsoft. They need to know how much we hate this program! Let them hear how upsetting it is to be in a crunch and not have the document able to print!
