OK... I feel dumb.. but...

I'm an avid reader of this and the kitchen forum as I plan my remodel for this summer. As I browse opinions about dishwashers, Euro (Miele & Bosch) and American ( KA Archetict Series and maybe GE Monogram) I keep coming across the phrase "high loop installation". So... what does that mean? I live in Florida and my house is on a slab. My future new DW will go against my outside patio wall where my current old clunker is. I'm torned between the above mentioned DW'ers. I know there may be as much as a 1K difference in price but if I"m convinced one is better then the other I'll go for it. Bottom line? What is high loop installation mean AND is there a big difference in how the Euro machines work since my limited understanding is that they don't have a heating element and the American machines with heated drying? Sorry if this is a repeat of other posts. I get dizzy going back and forth between previous posts trying to answer this myself. Thanks for all the great info you all post for others.

Hi RMF,
It refers to the DW drain line is connected to the sink drain line,when the sink does not have an air-gap outlet. See step 14 in the illustration below.

Thanks jobird. That visual actually helps alot. I just looked under my sink and theres a think copper tube snaking through my sink cabinet (toward the bottom that goes to it's own water outlet. There is no other tubing to this old GE potscrubber so I guess whatever my new DW ends up being ... it'll require a completely different type of installation. The picture your link went to speaks directly to "high loop". Thanks for the help!

Hey Slow, Calam and Thyme..great to be back! thnx..yes depressed, slightly, dried too fast too I think..thus wash-out? The description says the genset has a 120v recept that can deliver 50 amps (I'll bet its duplex recpt isn't rated for more than 20 amps, but that's another issue). Sounds like the 120/240 switch parallels the armature windings, reversing one, into the 120v output. So you want the 240v position for running the house. I hope you don't have anybody in your house who would die without power, such as a person who needs oxygen from a concentrator. That doesn't look like a very high quality genset, and I'd wonder about its long term reliability. Dunno about the genset and the TV. The safe answer would be just to not use it (the television set, I mean). I can't imagine burning up $expensive$ gasoline just to watch televison on a big screen set anyway. I don't expect to have all the usual comforts when the power goes off; I'm OK with heat, a working fridge, and a few lights. Different priorities, I guess. ;-)

Be assured there is, indeed, another tube in there somewhere. The copper is the supply. There's also a drain hose. Suspect your new DW will have similar connections going to/coming from the same supply/discharge points. It'll be easy -- high-loop and all.
