I have been gone a week and by the time I got back they were sold out.

actually most of the reviews are very old and of the original version not the latest one that has the updated android 2.2 OS. Which is why I much prefer to find current users that have used the device to know what it is like currently, I find that happens very often with devices that change and update, which is good means the company is putting out updates to fix glitches. I to had read reviews and was skeptical but thought well I can get it and just return it if it is a lemon.
I have had it for a while now and not a single problem with it, I keep it beside me all day and play a ton of games on it. I have all my fave websites saved so I can surf at leisure.
For the price I would sure buy it again.
Anyone that does get it let me know I will be more than happy to give the tricks I have learned and help however I can. I especially like that it updates immediately directly from online with out any problems at all.

If there is one in my stocking I'll be asking you for info. :)

I read your recommendation awhile back and was intrigued. Everyone sitting next to me on a flight I just made had e readers, I had six paperbacks in my suitcase. An e reader would be a lot lighter. I carry books all the time and have been advised by my physical therapist to lighten my load and buy a smaller purse.

My cell phone just makes calls. I'm pushing fifty, I can't see well enough to read on a phone nor are my fingers nimble enough and without kids I haven't had to learn to text.

Remember too all those around you had to put those e-readers away just before take off and just before landing. Fortunately paperbacks don't mess with the avionics. ;-)

This may be the all time dumbest question ever asked but here goes anyway....I need to know. Can a tablet like this be used without the wifi connectivity? I live in the boonies and do not have wifi, do not even have DSL, I have a satellite and use the virgin mobile broadband device for my laptop. Cell phone service is iffy at best. I would love to have a tablet, Ipad type device but if I can't use it without being connected to the internet, it would be pretty useless. I have a kindle so an e-reader is not what I would use it for.

The tablet is going to have limited functionality without an Internet connection. While you could play some games or read books, you wouldn't be able to browse the web or watch YouTube videos.

If you want to go in the direction of a tablet, you might want to consider using a MiFi device or get a tablet with 3G connectivity.

If you have limited cell connection then even one with 3G will not have much success either.
To surf the web do email all that stuff you have to be able to connect either by wifi or 3G depending on what the tablet has available, most all do have wifi.

using it for reading you can do, playing any games that are loaded on to it you can do, if you have videos, music and pictures loaded on it those you can view and listen to. but with out internet access you can not access any online.

Thank you so much. I understand better now. I guess I will just stick with my laptop and Kindle for now. No point in spending money for something that has no more "connectivity" than I already have....even if they are "cool" and I just want one! No telling what kind of new "coolness" lies just ahead in the future that will work for me.

DH wasn't fast enough to get this one so that is how I ended up with the Cruz that has Android 2.0....
