I found that out just after I transferred everything. I was so frustrated at that point that I didn't want to transfer everything back. :-(

you likely set up google desktop as the default which is why now oyur Outlook is using it to search, you should be able to change that setting in your outlook so it uses a different search option. Better Searching in Outlook 2010 Outlook 2010 Search Indexing I have never used the google desktop search you might find answers at their help forum Troubleshooting Outlook: Can't find Outlook email Welcome to the Official Google Desktop for Windows Help Group I see questions there that look similar to yours

Yes. When using Firefox (the one I just updated to), if I type http://www.google.com I now get directed to igoogle...always. In my version of Firefox (3.6.17) it is no longer possible to get the the plain old, cleaner-looking Google.com homepage anymore. Raven, the links you sent did not help to remedy this. Even the mentioned http://www.google.com/ncr sends me to the same page, iGoogle (personalizable page). I guess that's how it has to be with this version of Firefox. On the other hand, IE still let's me go to http://www.google.com. Although I'm not a Mac user, I read a thread on a Mac forum that mentions this iGoogle redirect as far back as 2005.

mudlady - If these devices still function but you're reluctant to use them because they have now un-updated Windows XP, I say.....go ahead and use them. As long as they have a solid antivirus/security system with an updated and active firewall, I think there's little to no risk of having a problem from surfing to known and legit websites, nor from the possibility of an intrusion coming up your internet connection. When googling for information, be careful not to click through to sites of unknown provenance. Also, I'd turn the devices off when not in use. Others will surely disagree, maybe they'll post and explain why.
