I am so sad that I really cannot participate this time. We are buying a new house and the closing date is right in the middle of the swap. I don't think i will have the time for it. Plus the new mortgage is higher so I really shouldn't. have to save my money to get a gas line put in for my stove ;-) i am so sad, I would love to take part. Have fun!! I will be watching.

I would love to do this, with one caveat. I might be a bit late in mailing. We are going to be visiting my family in Wisconsin when it ends, and I would love to look for items on my trip and mail it when I get back. I would probably be mailing, loosely, a week late.

Welcome to the forum. I think it is great that you want to join our swap. We like to encourage as much participation as possible but we do have the requirement that all participants must be active members of the cooking forum and post on a regular basis for a month or two before signing up a for a swap.

I'm sure you can understand that most members do not feel comfortable having their names and addresses given to complete strangers or sending to someone that they do not know at all.
I hope that you will continue to participate on the Cooking forum and join the next swap which should take place sometime around the middle of October.

Netla, that hasn't historically been a problem. I've shipped to Canada, to Germany, to Australia and to Japan. Sometimes the postage is prohibitive if a person is on a really strict budget, but there are always people who will jump into the fray and say they don't mind shipping to other countries. When I'm going to be short on cash I don't "volunteer", other times I do.

SOMEONE will take up the gauntlet, I'm sure, and another swap person would be ecstatic to get a package from you.

At the risk of sounding like a very wet blanket --- based on some people's responses, I think maybe we should be a little more specific about what a "mini swap" really is. If we really are supposed to keep it to 5 items, I think people should try to stick to that, because otherwise other swappers follow the "rules' and then feel like they didn't do enough after people start showing their swap boxes. Otherwise maybe we shouldn't say it's a mini-swap and just go for the whole sha-bang.

LOL! You don't sound like a wet blanket Iris. But, we have addressed this before. Actually I think we address it every swap. LOL! The simple truth is that the members of this forum are extremely generous and apparently we love to shop and have a serious problem with "limits". Although I do intend to try and stick to the "5 item limit" and just be very selective about what I send.

Ann, what happens when it is an odd number?

Maggie. Because it is a "Secret" Swap it doesn't matter whether the number is odd or even.

If you used the list above as an example the first person on the list, Linda (Doucanoe) would send to the next person Jessica, and so on right down the line with the last person Netla sending to the first person on the list.

I try to make sure that no one sends to the same person twice and that you always send to someone in a different State.
