I received the same warning. I didn't see a warning of uninstall, I just thought they were being downloaded for some reason and they were stopped. I need to pay more attention.

MS has been trying to force add ons to firefox recently.
this right here is what has so many people so angry about how it was done.
"These two add-ons were installed surreptitiously at machine level, without the user's consent, an action that at the time enraged many security-conscious Firefox users. This method of deployment also caused the Uninstall button for the .NET Framework Assistant extension to be grayed out, a problem that Microsoft later fixed."

they then did it AGAIN and mozilla has had to step in and try to stop this and warn users.

I personally do not want MS to mess with my firefox in any way, if I wanted to use an MS browser I would be using IE.

MS.Net Framework Assistant seems to have been installed with other MS updates over a year ago, August 2008 in fact. Did it cause anyone grief in the last 14 months? Who knows? Now Firefox has created a blocking warning so there seems little point in trying to remove it. Plus if it is removed and one seeks further updates and patches from MS as we must do it will simply re-install the thing again surely.

All programs written by the major players in the computer world today have control of our machines whether we like it or not. Check your start items and they will be listed and running despite the fact it is unnecessary in many cases but these companies (HP, MS, Apple, all printer makers, and many more) are important in their own minds and have a need to rule where ever and when ever possible.

Remember the Lexmark fiasco (probably 4 or 5 years ago now) where they included a rootkit along with the software for all their printers so they could track what ever they felt they needed to track?

Remember the one way firewall only stopping incoming traffic so all the programmers installed phone home spies to report back on your internet forays? This at a time when 'high speed' certainly was not high speed and they slowed internet access to all our computers.

Surely now Firefox is blocking this it becomes a non issue?

I removed the two I was warned about after this thread started. Firefox had disabled them, but I was having problems with my PC and nothing I did seem to take care of the problem. Once I removed the two items I have not had a problem at all.

Raven, I found the "windows presentation foundation" in my add ons and I can't uninstall it. It has been disabled and my PC seems to be ok. Should I leave it there.

Never mind, I found a way to uninstall window presentation foundation in the control panel/programs and features. I could not uninstall it from windows update uninstall.

I didn't get the warnings.

I don't have either of those in my Add-ons.

I looked in Control Panel and this is what I have that may or may not matter. I bought this computer in July '06.
