How to copy PDF to Libreoffice Document

I would like to copy a PDF document to a Libreoffice blank document or Pages blank document on my Mac.

The reason I want to do this is to be able to cut out parts of it that aren't important to me. In this case the pamphlet is 20 pages and I only want 10 pages of the information.

Is there an easy way to do this?

If you Google the topic, you'll find website solutions for your desired task.

Did you try copy and paste? I have not tired it with Libre.

a really easy way to handle that is to simply convert it from a pdf to a format you are more familiar with and can work with such as a word doc or excel or something like that. There are some good free online converters and this one will even let you do the pictures just pay attention to what you select as to what to convert and what to convert it to. Convert PDF to Word (doc) or Excel (xls) document, extract Images from PDF Free Online PDF to Word Conversions this one only does conversion to word and will give it to you there with out having to email it to you. Nope, I don't , have most of them in my head, as I use very few, mostly crochet things, and have used the same ones for years. I rather enjoyed getting rid of so many favs the last computer change I had, didn't use them anyway, and seemed to be like ivy climbing on a house, useless, and not needed. So, I started fresh again, and have never looked back. It is not the end of the world, at least for me, and further, what fun snooping around trying to find again. What I really don't want to lose, in patterns, etc., I already have hard copies of them. I sure do thank you for your nudge and helping me, hotlinks in a pdf, perhaps won't even be in existence anymore by the time I get around to using them, seems to be a lot of dead ends for lots of links.

there are many really good useful screen capture free programs out there, bobs link to those at gizmo provides several of the top choices. Many have the editing stuff all built in to them. On my linux I have one called ksnapshot which is so easy to use wish they had just that item for windows. On windows I have used a few including the gadwin program and I have used this one Screenpresso logo and the picpick one mentioned at the gizmo site. I had no idea the pdf select tool would not work on some items. That is strange. on the ones y'all tried it on had you actually saved the pdf file to your pc or were you viewing the pdf file from the online site? just wondering if that would make any difference. I have never encountered that problem.

Wow.. never knew about this.. pretty simple.. It works.. .. screen shot and paste into paint and save as JPG.. we should all have adobe reader.. this is version 9 and they offer this free. Paint is in Windows. Open the PDF, Under TOOLS, click select and zoom, go down menu to Snapshot tool, click that, and copy the picture? whatever, and open paint program, store in paint, and Under file in Paint, click SAVEAS whatever JPG, and be sure and choose JPG in type of file below. I am a newbie using this, and hope I explained it correctly. Good luck!!!!!!!! If I can do it anyone can!!!!!!!!!! I found I don't need another program on the machine, already have it.

The most straightforward way to print just the ten pages would be to specify page numbers when printing. If you wanted to create a new electronic document with only those ten pages, (from a PC) I would use PDFTools. It lets you split PDF files.

For that matter, it should be possible to copy the text and paste into a word processor. The fact that you can't makes me think maybe you have PICTURES OF TEXT but that your computer doesn't know it's text. Was the PDF made by scanning documents? If this is the case, you should be able to capture snap-shots from the PDF, save them as pics and insert them into a word processor document.

I apologize for not being more patient in my efforts to copy text. I just tried copying a part of it rather than the whole pamphlet at once and it works. The formatting is pretty much gone but I can fix that.

Of course it's easier to copy the entire pamphlet and then delete that which I don't want, but I'm happy to be able to copy it in any way.

Next time you might check and see if Libre offers more than one way to paste. Word offers 3 or 4 choices, the choice you make will affect the formatting. I bought MS Office with Word when I bought this PC, when I buy a new PC I will use Libre.

It sounds like you solved your problem.
But if the problem is just paring down the pdf to a section you like, there are several online utilities that can split pdfs.
For example :

FoxyUtils - Split & Merge pdf (link at the bottom)

I use that one quite a bit and it works quite well.
