think I'd start with a ccleaner and check mark compact data base.... then by lookin at extensions/plugins/themes, start disabling/re-enabling something all three have in common. probably lots of same slow page loads.... Here is a link that might be useful: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/753890

I wonder if you've cleared your history-cache-cookies lately. I also am curious what version you're running, and how many add-ons you've added to it. If you want to uninstall a program, you typically don't start "deleting" things...unless you want more problems than you had before. Millions of people use Firefox with great success. If you think Firefox is the problem, I predict you'll be just as unhappy with Safari or any other browser. I think you're having a PEBKAC day.

DA said "All-in-all they are so much the same. FF has seemed to have lost some consumer confidence ever since it went to the rapid rate release development a couple of years ago." Agree, agree. Maybe Firefox has lost some QC in the process? I was having random stability problems with Firefox, including whole machine freeze-ups, odd behavior, crashes. Different machines with different users and not all the same Win versions. I deleted Firefox, put Chrome in a prominent position, and all is well. I had no compelling reason to keep it and have found with regular use I like Chrome better. Everyone has a different experience. Android-wise, I just use whatever was bundled with it, it seems fine. I always try to use purpose-built apps more than the browser anyway.

Pam: Ah, if only it were! *History* I get by clicking on the cat icon with the clock, and the history menu drops down on the *left* side of the screen. You can see where this one is, and I get this menu by clicking on the thing like double parentheses next to the star in the address window. Besides, as I said, I have had History turned off for a long time and that side bar is empty. The items in this menu happen to be mostly things I have only visited once or twice and are by no means representative of my browsing history. If they were, it might be of some use. Owbist: Thanks. I wasn't looking for speed or accessibility. I just don't like having something whose method of working and management I don't know. It bothers me! It even bothers me that I don't know its name, so I am hampered in looking for a solution. Linesman: Your message just came in. That seemed to do the trick, and I was thinking Yippee! But, alas, the sites didn't stay deleted. They disappeared when I highlighted them and clicked Delete, but the minute I clicked on the "parentheses" mark that brings up that menu, there they all were again. Closing and reopening FF didn't make a speck of difference. I have found that clicking on the star in the URL window adds a new site. So half of the mystery is solved, but the half that most interests me is the deleting part! LOL I think I'm going to have to uninstall and reinstall FF, but even that may not help.
