wanted: marigene wins the largest box prize!!!

Got home this AM to a note on my back door from the neighbor that a LARGE box was delivered yesterday while I was at work so he took it in. Its from Marigene!!

Funny I was still home when the "mail" was delivered-he must have had to come back with the package!!

ITS HUGE!!!!

I promise to have pics later!!

Inside there is a really pretty set of salad plates. They are square with a pretty scalloped egde...they will be used for our salad tonight!!

Included was a set of placemats and napkins in a pretty brown. My new dining table is very dark brown and the placemats are a sorta cocoa color that matches my curtains!!

(Marigene-did you peek in my windows??)

Then if that wasn't enough there is also a cuisinart mini food chopper!! OMG-I really need one and could of used it last week!! Funny too cuz I looked on QVC.com for one but all they carry is Kitchenaide which I heard is good but one thing lead to another and I never did order one-and now I have one!!

Perfect for my shrinking family!! One thing I have to learn is to downsize!!

I love it all!!

The workers cherry picked among my things (with permission), and then Habitat chose what they wanted. They did like my cabinets, and they told me the same thing someone above said: They only want cabinets with backs that are stable (I assume for storage, so they can be stacked), and only took the uppers because they went with the lowers. They did take the perfect condition blinds and hood, but nothing else. I was able to find homes for everything in the end, except the oven which doesn't work quite right and looks bad too. That went to recycling. If you have a safe way to do it, you can try Freecycle for anything that the thrift stores won't take. Just do it away from your house (big box parking lot is good) because people go through the listings looking for job sites to rob. OTOH, the person who meets you in the parking lot is grateful to get something usable for free. Some places also have free markets where everybody just brings their stuff and take home what they need from other people's stuff. Awhile back, when I redid some bathroom fixtures (some very weird ones in perfect shape came with the house), one of the plumber's helpers knew a place where they could use them (I think it was a charity in Mexico). Yeah, you can get a donation form for your taxes from Habitat or other thrift stores, but you can always find someone who can use stuff that's in decent condition if you just keep asking who wants it.

Btw I'm jesse I'm very new to the plumeria forum as I have only been growing plumerias for about a year & 1/2 but I managed to get 8 plumies already and I want more as I'm addicted to them :). I mean who isn't after their first one?! I'm from Orange CA born and raised but currently live in riverside CA. Btw I would of never thought to root plumeria in water! I thought it would rott. I'm definitely going to try it when I get a cutting. When I bought some plumerias I was given 4 cutting that had a lot of green on them not that mature. I got them to root but it took forever. I put them in water to plump up because they were really soft by the time I got home (they were already kinda soft when I received them. They were free so I took them) and then I put rooting hormone on them the next day and mixed miracle grow soil with perlite and put them in 1 gallon pots with black stones ontop of the soil and watered good and put in direct sun and I did mist the cuttings so they wouldn't go soft again. I did water the soil every few days because in direct sun the soil dried out pretty quick. They did root I recently gave 2 away and I kept 2 I dont remember what Variety they are all I know they were some sort of pink. They bloomed but don't even remember how they look like I was on vacation when they started. now they have 3 branches on them. I feel that I did a good job for my first time at rooting plumeria cuttings. Now that I remember I also rooted another cutting along with those 4. It's a cutting that is very special to me know that was gifted to me by my Uncle when he saw I had just got into plumerias he already had 2 but he had bought some cuttings and he gave me one. When he gave me the cutting it had flowers on it and it was a Y the blooms I kind of remember were 2 or possibly 3 dark colors I remember I liked it a lot. When I first tried to root it I failed and it rotted so then had to save it and cut off and just kept 1 cutting that eventually rooted and now has formed another Y but haven't seen it bloom again. It's very special to me because my uncle has Gone to heaven this past December and he left me my last great gift that I will treasure. Anyways But I will definitely next time try the water rooting. Rosecestlavie I think you can do a cutting from any bush (not patentened ones supposedly).... but rose nurseries normally have a large plant that they keep getting their cuttings from. Some may have several of the same variety because they need a LOT of cuttings to supply the demand.... any plant that has a cutting from it is the mother plant of that cutting...... So when Angel Gardens told me they lost their mother plant, I figured they must have only had one bush in their garden and they could no longer get cuttings from it. BenT how does the color of Dolly compare to Fragrant Cloud.... how does bush performance compare..... height width, disease..... Helpmefind says Dolly likes dry hot climates.... well I am hot, but humid (and wet in the summer). but they do sell it here in Florida. I am on the verge of replacing my Fragrant Cloud that died last summer since it is my husbands favorite...... FC isn't or hasn't been very healthy in my garden.... I even tried Cary Grant as a replacement too.... it croaked as well..... Thanks Sharon

sounds like a great package you received there susie. i'll look forward to seeing pix when you have a minute to post (hope all is well with drew). michelle sent me a cusinart mini FP in the last swap and it was right in time too as my cheapie had just died. it sits on the counter all the time and gets constant use.

Sniff sniff...my computer crashed!!!

I am SO SORRY!! I did take pics and load them but they are all gone (d@mn-i deleted them from my camera)!!

I just got a new...well re-built computer...all of my book marks and addy book are all gone. I am really bummed.

So Marigene, if you by chance took pics please post them...if not I will take more pics when DD comes home next week.

Very nice Marigene! Sorry about your computer crash Susie - seems to be the time for that around here. You'll get a lot of use from that mini-chopper - I have a small food processor and even so, it's still too big for most things I do. The mini is just the ticket. The plate with the antiqued edges is very pretty.

That mini processor...darn, that is so cool. Seems like quite a few around here have gotten that here in the last several swaps. They must be gret. I have the big KA, but it is soooo big. That looks just like the ticket.

LOL Jessy!! After I posted my router died!! So I tried the old dil up connection and...well...nevermind!!

Thanks Marigene!! The chopper will come in handy as salsa season nears!! The plates were a big hit the other day!!

I will use the linens after I take the spring/easter linens down.

For whats its worth I did take pics of the worlds largest box on my celly but I am not sure how to send it...I usually just send it to myself right?? And I could then forward it??? Gosh-what I know about computers could fill a thimble!!
