Latex Paint Peeling Off of Oil Based Paint
Comments (3)Amazing. The painter that painted the latex over oil without proper prep is obviously not a real painter so taking advice on how to remedy this from this guy is probably a bad idea. These days, it's not hard to paint over oil based paint with latex...all you need to do is sand it or clean it well before painting and use a decent product. It's guys like this that cause the general public to think that you can't paint over oil based paint with a latex. The purpose of PeelStop is to bridge areas that have peeled with areas that are still adhered. If your paint isn't stuck, it has to be removed. Putting any product over the top of paint that has failed isn't going to work....See Moreporch paint is peeling....what do I do now?? Pease Help....
Comments (1)Not only did the elastomeric coating peel badly within 2 years ( 5 yr old wood steps and deck and raised garden bed) but we now believe the peeling paint is killing all the plants near the wood we painted! Previously all healthy plants nearby are dying since we used this product and it started to peel. The national paint company has said they would replace with a solid color stain to cover the elastomeric coating, said it peeled because of cold temps in our area or moisture getting under coating. However other paint companies ( one being Bejamin Moore) in our area think that may be a bad idea. Afraid to sand this off as that may spread more to the landscaping. Anyone with similar problem? Any suggestions appreciated ....See MoreWhat can I do about a window contractor who totally ripped me off
Comments (3)Thank you for your responses, but I was told by the IRS that if the windows had been purchased prior to December 31, 2010 it would have been 30% of the cost of the windows or up to $1,500.00 so I am out $711.00 which is why I wanted the windows put in prior to Dec. 31st so I could have gotten the $711.00 back to go towards the window cost. I spoke to several other contractors and they all stated that I should have no problem getting the tax credit from this window contractor as he did try to deceive me with installing the wrong windows and I have all proof of this including verbal and written proof. So couldn't I take him to court for this money? I did try to work with this man, but he isn't willing to give me what I should be getting for a tax credit and I don't feel he should get by with this, what he did was totally illegal as he was going to give me the wrong stickers had he been able to get by with it and then I would have been defrauding the government by applying for the tax credit with the wrong windows....See MoreSticker removal from windows...
Comments (5)Do no use Goof Off. It is a VOC compound and besides making your home smell like chemicals, it can degrade the vinyl if it is left in contact. Goo Gone is a bit less aggressive and relies on D-limonene oils to clean the residue off. I would start with some heat and the new razor scraper first. Then clean off the residue with a frame compliant adhesive remover....See Moremacv
