Best dishwasher than accepts a panel

My dishwasher just died. I did not plan to replace it during the current kitchen remodel, but since it did, I decided the new one should be panel ready so I can make it blend in better with my cabinets. I am hoping to do inset cabinets so the dishwasher needs to be able to be flush with the front 24" of cabinets.

Looking for the best dishwasher that accepts a panel. If you have one, what do you like about yours? Most important to me is racking that is flexible. I'd love some place to put spatulas and big spoons....the only option in my current DW is to lay those across the top racks which eats up tons of space.

Opinions greatly appreciated!

I chose my KA over the Bosch I went for because of the rack and tine flexibility. Also because the interior was larger (2" deeper and an 1 or 1/2" wider). Doesn't sound like a lot but it really is. The KA model I bought was the KUDE60 but the one that accepts panels is KUDE70. Has a third rack for cutlery/utensils. I removed my silveware basket, which opened up even more space on bottom and use the top rack for all my silverware. There is a corner caddy on bottom that can take larger items. The middle rack is adjustable (up and down). All three racks can be configured differently. You can remove the top rack all together or since it's split, just remove one side. I do wish the width of the bottom tines were just a tad closer together. I know a lot of people have the larger stoneware plates but I use the thin Corelle dishes and could get more in there if they were spaced a little bit closer together. Overall, I'm super pleased with it! The dB rating of the KUDE70 is 41. It's advertised as the quietest dw on the market. Good luck!

If you want to do the flush inset I think you'll do better with the Bosch. As monicakm pointed out the Kitchenaid is 2 inches deeper and you won't be able to push it back as far as you might need.
The new Bosch 800+ has the third rack for your cutlery and it looks to be a little deeper than the Kitchenaid for small cups and bowls. If you have hard water the Bosch comes with a built in water softener. I guess this is what their + means.
I'm not sure how Kitchenaid does their math but it would seem that a 40db Bosch would be quieter than a 41db Kitchenaid (probably can't tell the difference in real life)
Both are good machines but based on your comment of wanting a flush custom panel the Bosch is probably the better fit.

note from a landlord, hi there, it is really too bad about having to wait that long. My husband and I usually get our repairs done the same day or the next, especially with leaky water. But depending if we are out I also sometimes forget if I am unable to write it down. And also knowing that the dishwasher isnt something you need to live, such as something like a fridge, it sometimes takes a bit more time to get them in. Fridges we get immediatly. Calling the repairman yourself, doesnt always guarentee that they will refund you, so make sure to check with a rentalsmen first before going ahead and doing so. because with holding the rent can also get you evicted. I disagree with how long it has taken them there is no reason for that but try giving them one more chance, and arranging a time for them to come and fix everything, if they have to phone someone even call them back the next day to see whats going on. Somepeople you have to get on there case if you want to get anything done. I used to have a guy that cleaned our rugs like that, and sometimes I would have to call him 3 or4 times a day just to get something done, and also to let him know im serious.

If you don't want to use a rinse agent, you're probably going to have some trouble finding a modern dishwasher that will deliver satisfactory drying results. Nearly all modern reduced-energy dishwashers depend on rinse agents to aid in reducing spotting and to enhance rapid evaporation of water on the dishes . Have you tried using different brands? Consumers Reports says that nearly all new dishwashers perform well at getting dishes clean, provided that you use a modern ENZYME-based detergent and the machine is properly loaded. Enzymes will soften and dissolve all but the toughest burned-on crud. Older chlorine-based detergents are not nearly as effective. I'm not sure why deep bowls won't fit in a European machine. I have a Miele dishwasher and I'm quite positive that anything that will fit in an American brand dishwasher will fit in my Miele. I wash things in all sorts of shapes and sizes, including the electronic air filters from my furnace. All fit in just fine. As for quietness, not all machines are created equal. Generally, top-of-the-line machines are pretty quiet. Some more than others, but still quiet. Lower-end machines, however, don't come with much sound insulation so they can still be obtrusive when in use. When it comes to noise, you will get what you pay for.

detective- I think you misconstrued my between the lines point. Of course no one would want to pay for non value added things like duties/arbitrage/shipping if they had a choice. MY point was twofold: 1. Mieles are not twice the price of their Bosch equivalent & 2. Given the real world $$$ difference consumers should be mindful that a Bosch at roughly 25% less does not have those NVA costs associated with them because they are made domestically. For the sake of argument let's say that equivalent models had equal sale prices F.O.B. factory floor which they kinda do. Under that, the Bosch is a stinker given their less than stellar output lately. OF COURSE you can't get a DW at teh factory floor especially if it's in Germany and the currency costs, shipping, tarifs, duty, ect. are real costs and will be paid by the purchaser. So, at the end of the day a Miele will be more expensive in almost all cases. All of this is simply an abstract "value" discussion. What almost everyone with an unbiased view agrees on is that Miele has the better DW. They also agree that Mieles cost more. What's harder to agree upon is the question of which is a better value, a lot of times because people confuse value and cost. EX: Bosch's tubs are now hybrid, pieced designs with plastic bottoms - not entirely stainless like all Mieles. Their control boards/wiring harnesses are less robust - just look at their recall of late because the things tend to catch on fire. Their plastic control interfaces are of a more flimsy plastic that wears prematurely. Their tub frames are not as stout , maybe they are using some sort of super alloy that is stronger and lighter , but I seriously doubt it. Their discharge hoses are thinner and less flexible. They don't even include a supply hose or an electrical connection. Their leveling adjustments points are plastic not metal and tend to cam out under basic install. Look, I'm not saying Bosch DW's are crap. But, I do feel they are cheapening their brand and they have definitely cut some corners in the last two years with regard to build quality. Bosch brings in 2 models from the fatherland - an 18" and a 24" I don't remember the model#'s off hand, but they are an 800 series and the only ones with water softeners. The full size list is $2k with a street price around $1700-$1800. Half the Miele line up can be had for that price.

I have 2 of the Bosch 500 series Integra dishwashers with panel fronts. We have 8 kids and didn't want to add any more noise, so love the quietness of the Bosch. We are quite happy with the cleaning performance, too. The 500 series is not the top and not the bottom of their line...'Just right' for me. We paid $899 each.

I have a new Bosch SHE68E15UC with the water softener. Ours is not outfitted with a panel to match the cabinetry. However, as jakvis mentioned, the shorter front to back dimension of the Bosch just might be important for an installation which will have a wood panel on the front.

On the other hand, a co-worker of mine has a new KA. Sorry, I don't know the model number but it was definitely a high end model because she returned a Miele and got the KA. She wanted a heated element drying system as well as a cutlery tray. My co-worker is extremely pleased with the KA.

The sound level differences are probably undetectable to 99% of us.

Those KA will be difficult in a flush inset install. Bosh is fine, but the Mieles are much easier to install in these applications and they are higher quality machines. They are a bit more $$$ than an equivalent Bosch.

We have the Miele with the panel but wife didnt want hidden controls and 3 years ago Miele offered both options, what some would called totally integrated and the model we chose that is panelled except for the controls and readouts near the top.
We had a KA before this one, SS and man was it a pain to clean, every little water spot showed on that SS , so that is why we wanted a paneled one.
We still like this option, I mean if ya got a miele why hide it?
Been trouble free for 3 years now, is very quiet.
It had the silverware tray on top and I just toss the stuff up there, no particular order and so far I have yet to retrieve a dirty fork or spoon outta it.

I went to the higher end appliance store in my area today and they had Bosch. It definitely looks a lot smaller than my current Maytag (that died). The appliance store was also recommending ASKO. It seemed to be a bit higher priced than Bosch. They did not carry Miele which means nobody in my area will have it. The sales staff did say the same thing that KA will stick out compared to Bosch. I definitely want the flush look.

They had 3 models of Bosch. I can't remember the model numbers but basically the lowest price option you had to take out the upper basket and put it on a different track to raise or lower it, the middle level did the rack adjustment automatically and the highest option did the automatic adjustment plus had a 3rd rack at the top for knives, big spoons etc.

Does anyone have any opinions on these? Is the 3rd rack truly useful. I like the idea of it, but not sure if it is really useful. I honestly don't care much about dishwasher cycles. I will most likely keep it on the same cycle all the time. I do greatly care about delay start...use that feature all the time now.

You might find the link below interesting reading in regard to the newer Bosch units with the 3rd tray for utensils.

The problem I see is that the new Evolution 800 Plus Bosch units may not have a model specifically designed to be paneled.
