well many are pay for products and expensive ones at that, I would not pay for them. The ones in that list that are worthwhile programs are mostly free they are.

I and others here have recommended many of these here.

I do not use or advise the use of registry cleaners so I stay away from any of those, I have seen the damage that happens when things go wrong.

there are also windows power toys for xp I use several of those, you can google windows power toys for xp and find the page for them, they are free.

I really appreciate your input on these. I see these mentioned all the time but have been afraid to try any of them for fear of them causing a problem with my computer.
I am not one to just jump in there and try them because this is my one and only computer and I cannot afford to have something go wrong with it because of something I have installed that I know nothing about.

If you have backup software like Acronis True Image you could create a full back up of the hard drive. Then you could play with these programs to your hearts content knowing you can use Acronis to return to the previous state.

Even creating a Restore Point before installing any is a good plan. Then if you are not happy you simply use the Restore feature.
