Really dumb question...

I was sending a message and while typing, I hit a button and everything on my screen went up about 1/2 and inch...Now,all the headings are way up and if I want to use the back arrow, I have to jiggle the mouse way up on top and finally it will appear....What button could I possibly have pushed and how can I undo????

Didn't I say, it was a dumb question...........

I'm not sure I exactly know what it is that you are saying has happened, but more often than not, rebooting the computer will solve 'odd' problems.

Have you tried rebooting (turning off and then back on) yet?

There are no dumb questions...and often things are just pretty hard to try and explain.

my guess is you hit F11 key that will make your browser go to full screen and the top part will be hidden try just hitting it again, you just toggle it off and on by hitting the same F11 key

Hello angie! Do I need to get rid of the spare plants? If so what is the best way to do this? Yes, I think you do, or the plants might get too crowded. Not sure how others do this, but I thin based on the size and number of leaves a plant has. Which ever plant has the most leaves and/or the biggest, I keep, and thin out the other. If both look about equal, flip a coin. About the white on the leaves, I can not help; sorry. Perhaps someone else will step up and give you a hand. Hope this helps! Oh BTW, from my years in the service, I was told that the only dumb question was the question that you did not ask. You asked, so it is not a dumb one!

You mean instead of paying it as the house is being constructed? That's not a dumb question....I was totally confused about that as well. In the case of our loan, and I imagine most, the interest is paid on the money that the bank is giving the builder as he draws it. I was wondering why my husband was so keen on making sure that the first draws were paid with cash that was left over from the proceed of the sale of our house, before dipping into the loan...now I know. Those interest payments keep getting bigger and bigger each month...I really want my house finished quick!! I also asked why we just couldn't pay the interest at the end with the mortgage, but apparently our loan isn't set up that way. Stinks...and makes me think that building is WAYYY more expensive than buying an already built home. I wish we could have bought the house we are building SPEC! ;) ('Course, then it wouldn't be anything like what we want, so I guess that is the trade-off!)

Jasdip, eggplant is wonderful!! Especially roasted. But most Americans way undercook it. It's done when it looks like snot. Literally. If it's white, it's not cooked and likely bitter. People tell you you have to salt it to draw away the bitter but I can't tell the difference. It's sweet if it's cooked, and bitter and nasty if it isn't. If you don't want to go to the mess of charring it over a fire, you can do it under the broiler. Just wash the whole eggplant, poke it all over with a fork to break the skin and let the steam out (you do not want an exploding eggplant), and put it in a pie plate, under the broiler, until it's all sunken in and charry looking. Turn it at least once (more if there's another side that hasn't been up--depends on size and shape). You can use a casserole dish if you don't have a pie plate (I use Pyrex which is dead easy to clean), but the lower the sides the less you have to turn it. Temperature can be from 375-450 depending on your druthers, but I wouldn't go higher with a big eggplant because the outside will get totally charred before the inside is cooked. You can if they're the skinny ones, but then you have to watch them like a hawk. It could take 45-90 minutes depending on the oven, temperature, and size of eggplant. Once it's done, let it cool enough to touch, then slice open, use a spoon to pull out the heaviest groups of seeds, then just scoop the eggplant out, getting all the roasty brown parts. You can make it into a salad or paste, add tehinah for baba ganouj, or just use it straight. The fire version takes a lot more tending, but gives a smokier flavor, even when it's just your gas burner. Poke all over, and keep turning every couple of minutes before the charred spots go black. As you turn the eggplant, the hot side will cool down and can take another go over the flames. This will result in eggplant spit all over your burner, so not the thing to do right after a big, deep clean. You can also do very skinny Asian eggplants, cut into spears, oiled and seasoned (a citrusy flavor works very well, and garlic, for sure), and roast them like you would any other veg. It's a little tricky getting them good and cooked without drying out though. I use a higher sided baking dish for them. Sometimes, a dry, white outside remains when it's thoroughly cooked inside. They're best when the whole white collapses against the skin, looking flat and overdone. That's when they're just right. Can you tell I love eggplant?

The issue came up when we were discussing the hood (which I need to order this week!). At first he had told me that code required that the hood be between 36" and 42" above the cooktop. DH looked into it and could find only a requirement about venting, um, something I can't remember that doesn't apply to us. Sorry, still on first cup of coffee. Then when GC installed the 10" high soffit I asked him how we were going to meet code with an 18" hood sitting on a 10" soffit dropped from a 96" ceiling. So he told me I was measuring wrong and that I had to measure from the floor up, and that's how the whole discussion got started. So he measured the height of my Lacanche, found it was 35" and told me he didn't know if it would pass code, being 2.5" below the countertops. *eye roll* Fire inspector should be in his office tomorrow, so I will call then and have a little chat with him.

I think it must have been the F11 key so I did what you said, and all fixed....
There are times, when I really feel dumb....Thanks so much for the help.....

Sunny don't worry about asking, it's the way we learn. Reading in places like this helps also. Some times people post their favorite tip, I always print those off for future use.

Vala55, you're so right when you said "Reading in places like this helps...".

I never knew this attribute of the F11 and love it! Sometimes I get frustrated by all the screen real estate taken up by assorted toolbars (especially when I'm using my small laptop). A simple F11 press is the trick!

You really don't need assorted toolbars installed, let me know if there are any you did not install, like ask toolbar, google tool bar, yahoo toolbar, the list goes on forever...

One of the things I enjoy the most with the recent generation of browsers is that F11 hides all the toolbars and bars, upper and lower, rather that just reducing them. Just hover the cursor over the top of the screen and the upper toolbars reappear. Unfortunately the lower ones have to be restored by F11. Hopefully the designers and encoders will remedy that issue.

Zep: You caught me! I was using the term toolbars to refer to those assorted bars at the top and bottom of a web page. Now you've caused me to look up the names so I can be more specific :)

The bars I was referring to are the title,menu, tab, location and status bars.

From checking this forum daily, you all have taught me to be careful when downloading software so that I don't add unnecessary toolbars. Thanks for looking out for all of us.

oh good I am glad it was a simple fix and it was the F11 key. Hey it happened to me when I was first learning too and scared me not knowing what I had done, thankfully someone was around to help me too.
That is how we learn and pass on the knowledge!

One thing a lot of people do not know that is also helpful is using the Control Z combo, if you are typing or something and want to UNdo something you just did try hitting the Control Z and it will undo your last action, it keeps undoing as you keep hitting it. That has saved me a few times. I wish I had an Undo key for life sometimes LOL

Thanks Raven, that is a good tip. In some places there is no undo on the tool bar or in the software I am using.
