if it is a doc stored on your computer or your email then no you can not, if you upload the doc to some online hosting site then you can provide a link to that and they can view it there. You might try Google docs, there are several places that let you host various files and then share the url with others to view it.

Why not just copy and paste the document placing a "Quote" comment at the start and "end quote" at the finish?

Your query says to 'someone on a forum' so if it is to an individual then do the same but in a private message assuming the forum in question allows private messages, most seem to.

some forums do limit the amount you can post per post so if it is an entire newsletter it may not allow it all in one post.

Never though of Google Docs. It is the Orchid Forum on this website. I belong to a group and received a newletter which I thought would help a new orchid grower who lives near me. I couldn't figure out how to put a link on the forum. It was send to me as an attachment in an email and opened in Word on my computer. I saved it in My Docs as a Word doc.

How would I open it in Google Docs? It sits on my computer as a Word Doc.

You can't link to a document hosted on your computer because you don't have the software necessary running for your computer to act as a web server. You could, in theory, install something like IIS or Apache but that creates security issues and most ISP's don't permit it.

Uploading it to Google Documents is an easy way to do it. You can read about how to upload a document with the attached link. Then you just change the visibility options to let people view the document.

I want to point out that if your newsletter has lots of formatting, it might be best to convert it to a PDF document first. That way everyone viewing your document will see exactly what you created. There are a number of free programs that will allow you to create PDF documents. Primo PDF is one I use and have been pretty happy with.

have you checked to see if the newsletter itself is not available on a website they have? Most of those type newsletters are also hosted on a website so they can be viewed there as well as by their emailed version. I get several newsletters and each one has a link back to the website where there is a copy of the newsletter.If that is the case then simply provide that link.

Thanks, I'll give Google Docs a try. There is no website (we're lucky to have some volunteers to print up a newsletter). It was sent as an attachment in a mass mailing. It is a .doc. A PDF is a good idea.
