Need new photo software - was using Kodak Easyshare

I've been using Kodak Easyshare software for years. I just got a new computer and I went to download the Kodak Easyshare software and the Kodak website states Easyshare software is no longer available!

All my photos are stored on my old computer and I should be able to copy them over to my new computer. So I need a new photo software program.

I need some recommendations for new photo software. Here's what I need ...

#1 must be able to transfer my old photos to new software.

#2 must be a very basic and easy to use software. My editing is pretty basic with the ability to rotate photos, crop photos, lighten photo, and if possible be able to label photos.

#3 must be able to store photo files on my computer rather than an online gallery.

#4 must be able to have "albums" or way to sort photos into categories.

#5 prefer a free download.

Can anyone help with some suggestions?

Well I have never used any camera software. Never saw a reason to. Windows does most of it. I just used the memory card from the camera, put it in the card reader and copied them to the pc hard drive. There you can make any folders you want and sort them how ever you want.
For extras like editing you can use online ones or Irfanview mentioned.

yeah, i knew that was a great price. and i also knew she was wanting it, so i grabbed the last copy & she repaid me. i didn't even realize that elements had add ons you could buy. there are tons of plug ins made for regular ps- i guess i never thought about the fact that they could work with elements, too. i don't know if you can change brush tips in elements, but if you are a halfway serious user, go to adobe's website and look through the user forums. people make all these neat actions, tips and brushes and you can download them for free. i've gotten some indispensible stuff on there i use every day in cs2. i'm not as familiar withelements, because i only use it when i'm at mom's 3 states away from home and have no other way to edit/look at my digi pix from when we're there. at home i use cs2, all the way. i was really impressed with how much elements has in it for a fraction of the price. and, i assume they've had some updates since the version i gave mom that came with my camera.

Roses -First time posting with new photo software

mandolls, Sunrise Sunset does have some scent, and My Girl has a little. However when they are in full bloom like now the scent is very noticeable. What I have found is that most roses that are bred for hardiness seldom have much scent. I have been very pleased with the Easy Elegance roses that I grow. For me scent is secondary to hardiness. GGG, they hold up quite well. We do get a lot of heat and humidity in late June and July and they keep on blooming. now they don't look quite so nice as we got 1.98 inches of rain within 1-2 hours this morning. It got extremely dark and poured and poured... Hard on the bushes when they are so loaded with blooms. mantis_oh, I emailed that picture to my sister and she told me I "boobooed" as my red shirt did not go with the pink roses! We have had that pump somewhere in the garden for the past 10 years. It was a nice dark burgundy color, but has faded and desperately needs repainting! Kathy, I hesitated to post that picture as I don't usually put myself "out there", but when I have posted these roses in the past it was mentioned that it would be nice to have something for comparison (to determine the true size of the bushes.) No, not too many holes in these, but there are paint spatters/wipes as these are also some of my painting clothes! roselee, thank you. I have many more roses in the yard, but didn't want to overdo the picture posting. Also still getting used to the new software and it is taking me a little bit to get the hang of resizing. Somewhat different than the old program. schoolhouse, yes there have been some drive bys the past few days. Slow down, stop, go, stop, etc. Kind of fun to watch. DH noticed 2 yesterday. Kay, I was actually only watering last night, so stayed fairly clean, if a little wet. Usually much grubbier! One pair of painting/gardening jeans are so full of holes and paint that it is hard to tell they are blue jeans! Thanks again everyone! It is fun to share with other gardeners. None of my friends are really into flower gardening. Most think it is way to much work! Will post more pictures after I have time to get a better handle on resizing.

Hi all, I went into my HP Solution Center and there is a place that says Transfer Image and when I put my mouse up to it this is what it says. Save images to your computer from a camera or a memory card. When I clicked on that Live watch popped up and recommended that I block ntvdm.exe 3912. I didn't touch it and it went away. I think if I do that it might mess my HP Solution Center up. I don't know what in the world is going on here. This is coming from AdAware Anniversary Edition. thirdfrt!!!

Eric did you see anywhere that it stated is has a resizing option? The biggest reason I want to use this one, I already have the freebie and I figure it would integrate well with 5.0. Plus it's not too expensive. I figure the better ones are for professionals, really, not for an amatures (ok, how do you spell this word?) like me. Thanks for the input, Mona

You can copy all your files, photos, wallpaper and settings to you new computer by using Easy file transfer. All you need is a flash drive or external drive and do the following

Click Start
Click Control panel
Click the small right facing arrow beside Control panel at the top in the address bar
Click All Control panel items and the windows fills
Click Getting started 4th down left side probably
In the new window click Transfer files and settings from another computer and the screen shows a panel above
In the bottom right corner of that panel click Open Windows Easy Transfer
Click Next in the new window
Click An external hard drive or flash drive at the bottom of the choices
Click This is my new computer
Click Yes in the new window and follow along

It will then set the external drive up to accept all the stuff you need from the old machine and then prompt you to take the drive to the old computer to load the files.

Presuming you are going from XP to W/7 Easy File Transfer is included with W/7 but not included with XP so you need to install it.

I am in no way an Ansel Adams. Far from it. I just tinker or deal with have-tos. I use either Irfanview or Picasa, mostly Picasa. They are so user friendly even I can do it.

You can get either of them from Filehippo.com. In fact, there is a new version of Picasa out and available there.

I've used Picasa and thought it worked pretty well. My only quibble is that there was no way to add text to an image.

Picasa is your best bet for simple editing, organizing in albums, etc. It's free to download and works quite well.

For transferring the images from your camera to the computer, Windows 7 does a nice job of that, now, so you don't need camera-branded software to do it.

Mike you can add text to the photos... there is a label feature etc in Picasa
