I'm using both Chrome and Firefox with no problems but I have XP. I think if I had this problem I would try clearing history and cookies in Firefox and see if that solves the problem.

Do you use Firefox addon's? If so one of them could be causing the problem. You can start Firefox from in safe mode and see if it still crashes. If it does not crash in safe more, then your problem is probably caused by an addon. You can disable them and then restart them one at a time until you find the one causing the problem.

Thanks. I don't remember adding any 'addons' to Firefox. I will use CCleaner and see if that helps.

The situation is once every day or so; not frequent.

I know that there is a pretty major security issue with chrome so you may want to reconsider having it right now since it is still so beta. It is very possible if you have add ons it could be one causing issues or it surely could be a conflict between chrome and firefox.

personally I would eliminate chrome from the equation and see if your firefox goes back to normal performance and you will be safer also till the security problems get fixed on chrome.

Bill try looking in the 'Event viewer' next time this happens - or now but you may need to scroll down to see any errors.

One problem may be the amount of tabs you have open if you have a lot of tabs and not enough memory that is one of the major causes for a Firefox crash closely followed by add-ons as the second.
