Gone With The wind, Fench?

A question was asked about Gone With the Wind in French in another thread.

It is well known that we are a very ethnocentric country. We are not that interested in other peopleÂs languages and cultures.

In my association with the French people and their food, I have come to realize that despite our typical prejudices regarding them, they are very interested in our culture.

The French show a great deal of interest in our music. I have done some research in an area that fascinates me.

A few of our songs are "stolen" from the French music:

"Some Where Beyond The Sea" is originally French by Charles Trenet "La Mer"

"Autumn Leaves" is from Les feuilles mortes

"I Will Wait For You" is from Les Parapluies de Cherbourg

"If you go away" is Jacques BrelÂs Ne me quitte pas

"My Way" is Michel SardouÂs Comme d'habitude

Luis ArmstrongÂs "La Vie En Rose" is piafÂs La vie en rose

But the French have "stolen" (adaptations, not translations of our songs) our songs by the thousands.

Almost all of our classic songs they have used for their adaptations. My research have uncovered at least a thousand.

I have three different versions of Unchained Melody in French

I have many Elvis songs in French.

I have many Kenny RogerÂs songs in French

I have the entire productions of "Hair", "Cats", "My Fair Lady", "The Sound Of Music", "Gi Gi", "Les Mis", "Phantom Of The Opera", "Man Of La mancha" ----- All in French, music and lyrics.

If you have a favor song, I most likely have it in French. Let me know if you are interested.

I have to say, Things do sound better in French.
