I love it and it's going on my FB page tonight. Here's another good one someone put on my FB page:

"I pledge allegiance to the Saints, and to the great city of New Orleans, and to the Super Bowl for which we will win, one city, below sea level, under God, with Mardi Gras and alcohol for all. AMEN !'

And were you sorry your Gators beat our Tigers last fall, too? I'm getting a little tired of Florida teams this year. :(

    Love the twin dogs!

There is a purple fog or should that be purple rain(love that song) headed your way. If we added a little green to our uniforms we would be all set for Mardi Gras...LOL! Should be a great game. SKOL VIKINGS!

Oh, this weekend's game is going to be tough for me. I've been a Saints fan from the beginning --- Love 'em. But, I'm also a Brett Favre fan -- grew up with his cousins (he's a bit younger than me). I'm not sure I can even watch this game, I think I'll be too miserable knowing one of them has to lose. My hometown newspaper is really covering this game (less than an hour from New Orleans and the hometown of Brett Favre), and everyone is really divided on who to pull for. It's not about Saints vs. Vikings to everyone there. This game is Saints vs. Brett.

Here is a link that might be useful: Favre loyalties

David, I'll be thinking of you Sunday night! LOL!

dlynn, I totally understand but I just gotta do this!

Favre on the ground , Favre on the ground , Vikings gonna lose with Favre on the ground ! Tu...rf in his mouth , helmet turned sideways, lookin' like a fool with Favre on the ground !!! WHO DAT?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROFLMAO Karen....that is a good one pal!

dlynn, how cool that you know one of his cousins. I'm thinking LA will be pulling for the Saints reguardless though. We both want a shot at the SB in a big way.

I'm already nerved out big time and it's only Friday...LOL

It's a small place where we are from and everyone knows everyone. When Brett is home, he just hangs out like a regular guy. He still gets his haircut by my aunt, goes to the casinos, plays golf and goes to high school stuff that his nephew and kids are in. His brother does real estate (and my mom is a realtor), so they run into each other some. I moved away when I went to college and Brett was still a kid then, so I never really knew him --- just the older cousins in his family. His mom's niece was a majorette with me. Of course, back then no one had even heard of Brett Favre ( he was still playing PeeWee ball). LOL.

Karen, that was a good one. I'm still slightly more Saints than Vikings -- just can't help it. As someone at home said "Brett is a friend and he'll just have to understand, this is Business. And we have to take care of business!!!"

I will hate it if the Saints lose, but I won't be as upset as I was when we lost to Chicago a few years ago. At least I will be able to enjoy watching Brett. Oh, I'm so torn on this...

LOL! dlynn, this is for you!

Down in New Orleans where the Saints call home, it takes a cool Brees to rock The Dome. On LaSalle and Poydras Streets, they jack teams up to the mambo beat. The Super Bowl, mambo, mambo,... mambo...Super Bowl, mambo, mambo, mambo...Super Bowl, mambo-ooh...Down in New Orleans!! (Sing to Mardi Gras Mambo tune!)

    Someone make me stop!!!!!!!

Sundays forecast, extremely breezy, with touchdown storms and football sized hail, large craft advisory due to saints fan waves throughout the dome, and the coast guard has ordered all ships including vikings to stay in port while the fandomoinum continues throughout the new orleans metro area

  • dlynn2

    You had typo. Correction:

    "extremely Brees-y" :)

My cousin told me today "Brett is like Old Yeller. We love him, but we're gonna have to put him down today."

I just realized that I've got to be somewhere with my kids about the time of the 3rd quarter --- ugh!!! I'm gonna have to watch it on TIVO. I've gotten used to watching games on TIVO this season, but I haven't had to walk out on games right, smack in the middle yet. This is going to be difficult. I'm also starting to dread the Superbowl, now too when we have to play against Archie Manning's kid (I'm assuming the Colts will win today). This year is such a mess --- Saints, Brett, and Archie's kid. All my favorites!!! But, the Saints still top the list -- just too much history and loyalty there. Been going to games since the old Tulane Stadium days, so I can't give up now.

Well, it will be the Colts and??????

Aren't you funny dlynn...LOL....guess we will know in few hours.

Our Favre, who art in Minnesota, Hallowed be thy name. Thy bowl will come, it will be won, in Miami as it is in the Dome. Give us this Sunday, our weekly win. Give us touchdown passes, and not let those pass against us. Lead us not into frustration, but deliver us the Super Bowl. For thine.. is the MVP, the best of the............... NFC, And the glory of the Purple People eaters now and forever, Amen.

Fixin' to make my first cocktail and put some appys in the oven....

They had a guy sitting with an empty seat next to him at the Saints game on the 50 yard line about 10 rows up. At half time another Saints fan asked him if no one was going to sit there could he use it? The guy said go ahead, his wife had died and it was empty. The Saints fan asked why didn't he give the seat to another relative? The guy said: Well they're all at her funeral.....

I can appreciate your excitement having been there with the Bucs way back in 2002. But, I don't think we had as much funny material to work with. Let's hope the Saints have the same success next week.

  • dlynn2

I think the funny material comes from having to wait 43 long years for this -- heck we waited 20 years just to have a winning season, no other team has had to endure that!!!

Buddy Diliberto was a beloved sportscaster at home for many years (my whole lifetime, really). He was the one that started the "Aints" and the paperbags over the heads during that dreadful season with only one win. He always said that if the Saints ever went to the Superbowl, he'd wear a dress down Bourbon St. Well, BuddyD died before Katrina. So, his son and Bobby Hebert (former Saints QB) led a parade of men in dresses today in BuddyD's honor to kick off Superbowl week. It's been a big deal for everyone picking out their dresses and getting ready to honor BuddyD. I've got lots of friends and cousins in this parade, just can't find any of them in this video!

BREAKING NEWS! The NFL has just served a cease and desist order on the Vatican. The Pope along with any and all employees and/or affilliates of the Catholic Church are to refrain from the use of the term "Saints" without the express written consent of the NFL.

The NFL will probably try to get exclusive rights to the Hail Mary (pass) next. Who Dat!!!!

Well, I just have to say this:

    As the mother of Cindy
    My daughter from Indy
The Colts are the team I must choose.
As for those who be hatin'
    Our superstar Peyton
You'll need more than a big glass of booze.
Your Saints may not be sinners,
But our Colts, they will be winners,
Cause your team is destined to lose.

Thanks, David, for supporting the Manning's hometown :) I thought back, and I can't think of a single time that I was 100% against a Manning. I always pull for the Mannings. I even had an autographed picture of Archie in his Ole Miss uniform on my bulletin board when I was a student at LSU --- I LOVE the Manning family. But, the Saints really do come first this time. I've just waited too long for this.

I've really needed something to laugh and smile at this week and this thread has made me feel good. I've had the link on to the Saints tribute songs and they've helped too.

Tomorrow we're going to our son and DIL's to watch the game and we'll all be cheering for the Saints.

Thanks Karen and Dlynn and everyone for lifting my spirits.
