Printer info.

I need to replace both cartridges for my HP 1210 All In One printer...$57.97 at Wal Mart. For about $40.00 more than the new cartridges, cost I can purchase a Kodak ESP 5250 All In One printer, both cartridges for the Kodak cost $23.97.

Does anyone on this board have any feedback on the Kodak Printer?

This will be used on a HP machine with X-P SP-3.

Before you buy the Kodak printer, make sure it supports XP.

My opinion, move away from cartridge type printers consider
laser printing, no more cartridges to by or refill. When I was in the Real Estate listings and printing so much I had to get rid of the cartridge printer. Cartridge fees were crazy.

That Kodak will probably use the the ink up faster. LOL

Patrick Hoya callistophylla is grouped with a hugely diverse list of species so it would be hard to generalize about their care. Hoya pottsii, verticillata, macrophylla and finlaysonii are all part of the group along with more than 30 others. I think it would be safe to consider Hoya callistophylla and the many unidentified species that closely resemble it as being moisture lovers. I grow my Hoya callistophylla moist and have noticed if it dries out at all during the formation of a new leaf the leafs development is impaired. There are a few deformed leaves on my plant because of lack of water during growth. I tend to grow my Hoya finlatsonii drier although the variety I grow that was by collected by Chanin Thout in Thailand seems to enjoy more moisture. Mike

I would go to the HP site enter the model number and go to that page to see if perhaps they have released a vista upgrade for that printer if you find nothing there I would enter into a chat there with an HP tech and ask them if there is a vista upgrade available for that printer, they may have to email it to you. If they do not ask them if they know of any generic drivers available that would work. At the driver sites online I am finding version 3.5 is that the driver version you have? it may be they did release a newer one than the original that might work. A word of caution if you do download a driver from anywhere be sure to right click and run your virus scanner on that file before opening it on your pc. In addition I have found this blog article that seems to work going by replies on forums I looked at. Definitely seems worth a try. You want System Preferences, then choose Print and Fax. Highlight the printer and click the little minus sign below your list of printers. You're get a confirmation box. That's probably not the problem. You might want to read the manual for the printer and see what the cause of the error light is.

Rita never fear about looking silly regarding computers. To be stupid would be to not ask a question you needed an answer to. Computers are very complex things and most folks are just happy to use them without worrying about the underlying hardware and software interactions. When you click File/Print.... those dots always indicate that there is another window before the actual procedure starts. In this case a window pops up with some choices, on my HP printer the 'Properties' button is near the top right corner. Click that and another window will appears where you can adjust the settings. Depending on choices available it might offer Draft, Normal, Best and Photo quality. Default would be normal so try using Best if that is offered. All this does is to slow the printer and the ink cartridges make more passes over the same part of your paper as it moves through the printer creating a better quality printout. Slower is definitely better than no printing. Hope that helps you.

What you also need to know is does Kodak give you full ink cartridges when buying a new printer. Some (Lexmark was one) only half fill forcing to to buy new inks quickly to inflate their profit margin.

You might want to do a search of this site and perhaps Google too. I recall complaints and comments of the ink usage not being what Kodak claimed, and negative remarks regarding the picture printing quality with a Kodak. Also, if it suits your needs a default setting to greyscale for general usage, and when on the Internet printing only the area required are both great ways to make ink last longer.

I just replaced my old HP F380 AIO after it became unreliable with a new C4680 AIO from HP for $59.99. The cartridges were $31.99 for a pair. Admittedly this model is just above an entry level, but since I have a much better traditional printer for "important" printing it fits the bill. I am truly surprised how well it works.
