Oh no, if the beetles are already there, they'll be headed here soon. I used to give my son a dime for every beetle he put in a bucket of water. I don't think he'd work for those wages anymore. Thanks garyg, I'll take a note of you formulas. I'm a EE, so while not up-to-speed on HVAC, I do understand math...and generally like it and the modeling it provides. In any case you answered my question. I figured I could do a quick check on how well the HP is working. It is 15 years old and has just had the multi-speed blower replaced. I was wondering about the compressor and efficiency. As I said, the weather is cold and the unit is holding the house with less run time than the original engineered targets for it when new. It must be delivering a COP of near 4, which is just fine with me...we'll run the compressor another 50,000 hours if we can. Anyway, my simple test of comparing the heat rise at a point just above the resistive elements didn't work, I got an apparent match between the 34KBTU HP input and the 17K BTU resistive input, not good if it means the HP is running at a poor 50% of its design efficiency (still better than resistive, but not great). I bet you nailed the problem with the lack of air mixing due to the short distance, and while I can't see inside the duct, I suppose the resistive heating elements are "exposed" to the air looking right at my thermometer, passing on some radiant energy too.

Some of the more popular cake mixes were downsized in 2012. However, home bakers, and professional cake decorators, have been 'extending' cake mixes for many years. I learned about cake 'extenders' through MBN's publications, about 30 years ago (when I was new to cake decorating), so, of course, I'm sure the practice goes beyond that. Then back in the 90s, cake mixes were resurrected, so to speak, by the author of 'The Cake Mix Doctor,' whose cookbooks, and line of cake mixes, are being actively hawked on her website today. Incidentally, her cake mixes weigh 18.25 ounces and eschew the use of vanillin, and other fake stuff; I'll probably never try them, or any other mixes on the market, for that matter -- blame it on sensitive taste buds. It sounds like someone played an early April Fools joke on you and edited an autofill file on your devices. Does anyone come to mind? It might be accessible via the Settings tab on the Chrome home screen, but I'm just guessing.
