yes it is good I use it on one of mine. If you go to the avast download page over on the left you will see 2 pdf files one is an install one is a user manual those will tell you exactly how to use it and how to do the registration.

Avast continually scans so it is not as necessary to have it do weekly scans but what you can do is set it up through the screensaver to do scans every time the screen saver activates, the directions for that are in the pdf I mentioned. I would set scan to thorough and set sliders to High.

I would set it manually to go ahead and do a full through scan while you will not be at the pc, this original scan will take a long time but it will set your basis for starting out clean with Avast.

I use Avast and it always take a long time. I don't think I do much configuring except to set it for auto updates. It's a talking update notice, startles me every once in awhile.

Winsock files are dedicated to an Internet connection.

Kernel 32 files are core files for the O/S.

Before you right click to restore them you might look in the location they came from and see if these are duplicate files or not. If everything if working good then perhaps wait to see what happens.

Seems odd that Avast moved them at all.

According to the link below during the installation, avast! copies some critical system files into the Chest, under the "System files" category. Those files might cause the operating system to crash if they get infected by a virus. If needed, those files can be restored from the Chest to their original location. Should an unknown virus infect the computer despite the extensive protection from the avast! antivirus package and alter an important system file, it can then be easily restored to its original state.

well see we learn something every day I did not know that, but it is yet another excellent feature for Avast to have.
good to know they are copies and if they were accidentally deleted from there you should still be fine.
