My niece is living in Boston. We have had a standing "joke" at Christmas, I always buy her pajamas, always.

She won't be coming home for Christmas. I want to send her her PJ's but it's too late to do it by mail.

I've checked out LL Bean and Lands End and nothing is grabbing me.

Does anyone know of a reputable online shopping service that would have nice ladies PJ's ?

How nice? (I'm just thinking of how truly expensive jammies can get.)

Garnet Hill is a very good company and their home page features pajamas and a 20% discount. You might find them worth a look.

Oh, JAMMIES, not lingerie. Ah....I've been relatively happy with JC Penney. Coldwater Creek might have some, and there's Nordstrom's and Macy's.

I live a half mile from the National Lumber in Newton and can assure you they have no engineers working for them. In Massachusetts an engineer is not required to design typical dimensioned lumber framing that is shown in the building code. But any structural element that is not shown in the code (LVL's, PSL's, structural steel, trusses, etc.) must be designed and stamped by a MA engineer. When the framing is complete, most towns require the engineer to submit an affidavit certifying those elements were built according to the original approved design. What National Lumber can do for you is ask the company that makes one of the structural elements mentioned above, to send them a design with a MA engineer's stamp on it. Most of these companies have an engineer registered in all states. But you will need drawings complete enough that the engineer can understand the loads and other conditions involved. The lumberyard will do a materials takeoff for you so they can give you a price. Are you ordering lumber and building the house yourself?

LOL Mustangs! Now we know why kids think milk comes from grocery stores! Bumblebeez, I know... they do send people out to do price check. But always come back and say "Nah, the tag there is wrong. It was on sale last week." If it was on sale last week the tag should be down. And if it was not down then you should honor the price posted! But these people always go by the computer. Every time I run into a situation like this the cashier always asks, "So, do you still want it?" If I mention they should change the price on the shelf I always get this not-my-problem stare. Harry & David's have these delicious Royal Riviera pears. For $29.95 you get 9 of the biggest, juiciest pears. I can't even describe how incredibly sweet they are. They're beautiful, too with a reddish blush on them. I hope we get some again this year. They are huge so nine pears goes a long way. They have free shipping right now, too. At least in the catalog. Hey, they're grown and shipped from the US, too! And, if you prefer, they'll ship direct to the giftee (is that a word?). No, I don't work for them--lol!

There's also PajamaGram. DD sent me some, once, and they were fine. Came in a reusable hatbox, too. Most, though, are cute-sy designs that you may or may not care for.

The pictures may seem sexy but the jammies are just jammies....including basic plaid flannel.
Also Vermont Country Store carries wonderful Lanz flannel sleep ware...jammies and gowns.
And it's close to Boston...
And there's always LL Beane....also in the area.

Seconding all the sites listed but you may want to wait to order until the 17th. Over 1000 retailers will be offering free shipping that Friday and still make Christmas delivery. And no codes to hunt for either.

I like Bloomingdale's, but when I've given pajamas as gifts, I've always made them myself because I like to give night shirts, and good ones are hard to find. I made a really nice one for my BIL with 3/4 sleeves and a shirttail hem out of some black and green striped very thick jersey with black cuffs and collar. My sister ended up stealing it from him. I mention this because your niece might like a man's nightshirt.

Ever hear of Bedhead pajamas? Very nice looking; I believe Oprah raved about them at one time.

Thnaks for all the help ladies! I settled on the site Sue linked too. Right type of pjs and a decent price point.

Then I tried to order on line......not so easy when you are from Canada! They did however have a 1-800 number and the agent there handled it wonderfully.

Thanks again guys, I know having PJ's from Aunt Sharon will help with being away from home for the holidays.
