sparklynnrose the mulch IS your fertilizer. As it decomposes, it released nutrients into the soil. Since it is made up of what was once living plants, it will have everything that living plants need to grow. Just sit back on your porch with your hoe in your hand (which you won't need as much any more) and sip a nice ice tea or fruit juice and watch it all grow. Your mulch should be about 4 inches thick. I like a little more than that for the first year, but that should do.

It's really easy to do, especially in new (non gross and non rusted) work with new supply lines. If you don't already have someone coming out who will do it, might want to give it a stab yourself. The drain, now...for some reason I'd rather not do those...

I have had my heart leaf philodendron climbing up my wall for 2 years now and watering has never been an issue. I usually soak up the excess water with a towel or remove it via turkey baster or using a spray bottle (don't recommend the last one, takes ages). Just water in sips to avoid overfilling the tray and making a waterfall. I've done that to my huge spider and it wrecked one side of the cabinet. Had to flip it over to hide my shame. Though, I do prefer taking my plants to the sink as that flushes out all the nasties in the soil which you can't do obviously if they plant can't move. I have my philo tapped to the wall which I doubt would work with yours as philos have thin stems but maybe yours does? Idk, never had experience with anthurium. Though, it's not the best method. It's also a pain to repot if it's attached some where as you have to detach everything and kinda break off the aerial roots (my philo attaches to my wall). Then if you have a trellis, the trellis can fall out of the soil and take the plant with it and a whole whack of things. And then getting it to reattach to the wall is the worst part. Had to tape mine at least 10 times before it finally stuck and the new growth attached. It gives you quite a jump when at 1am in the morning a 5 foot vine comes crashing down! When I have to repot it again I'm not going to attach it to the wall any more. I'll let it trail down in another area. Though, you'll probably never have most of the issues with your anthurium. Haha, sorry had to vent!

I had to buy the entire tank set up!!! I was so freaked out by suddenly having a beta with no tank (knowing he cannot go in with my existing beta!!!). I just rushed and did what I could. Apparently, people I know think you can put a Betta in a vase and I don't agree at all! I live 10 minutes from a Petsmart so I was able to pull it off. I just checked on him and he was in a different part of the tank swimming, he saw me and started going to the surface and looked like releasing bubbles out of mouth in a fun way. Then He nestled in again on a leaf and seemed to be sleeping. I just feel bad about all the different water types I used- I just did t have enough of the bottled one. I will heed your advice and just condition tap water in the future! My other Betta you gave me so much advise on is doing well. I'm glad I got into this- they are amazing!! i plan on doing 25% water changes once a week on both tanks with conditioned water. Glad this forum was here. I just hope this new guy will do well. I worried I stressed him too much in the rushed tank job.
