Please do not use any registry cleaner. You can mess up your system and render it useless, until it is all reformatted and everything reinstalled.

Cat is 200% correct. If a user is not familiar with the registry and its content tinkering with it in any way should be avoided.

we regularly here urge people to stay far away from all registry cleaners's they are just scam ware that try to scare you will all the errors they supposedly find. They are not needed on the current versions of windows but they still want to make money selling them and pushing them. You can leave your pc useless if a registry cleaner does the wrong thing.
I would remove the program and forget about it.

If you Must tackle the unnecessary job of cleaning the registry, make darn sure that you back it up first.
Use CCleaner and Only CCleaner.
It is the safest way to do the job that I know of.

I like CCleaner for its cleaning but the registry tool does make errors on occasion too so I can't recommend it. Fortunately for those that try the tool it does create a backup.

I can't thank you all enough. I am ignorant as far as knowing what a computer does and how it does it. So, I guess I'll call a computer tech guy. Again, thanks and thanks for answering so quickly.

Myra you do NOT need to call a tech guy, you have nothing wrong with your computer. The posters above merely suggest you leave the registry well enough alone.

Registry cleaners and BIOS flashing are task that are not need to be done for the most part. Only attempt these when you have a real need to do so, not on a whim

In her first post, she is saying worse mess, so I am assuming, that she probably does have a problem, however, she has yet to say what that problem is, so that she can receive some help here without having to call a tech.

right Myra you need to tell us what your actual problem is and we can see if anyone knows of something that could help. give us as much detail as possible please including which version of windows you are using and any error messages you might be getting.

In case it could be malware related you could go ahead and get the free malwarebytes, download it update it and run the full scan and let it clean what it finds, this is an excellent program, highly recommended.

But her 'errors' appear to be obsolete entries in her registry.

Not to draw a line in the sand here, but I do not see a report of system problems. What I read is a user downloaded and ran an application which reported "errors". Something similar to the following:

My system is running just fine without a care in the world. However to make my point I just ran CCleaner's registry tool and it reported three "obsolete" entries. I then ran Advanced System Care and it reported 102 "problems".

My whole problem started when I was running a sweep with Webroot Spy Sweeper. It stopped in the middle of the run and gave me the message, "The connection to the program engine has been lost or terminated." It told me to uninstall and reinstall it, which I did. Then I got the message, "Wrid.dll not found (or something like that). So I did a search and Wrid.dll was in the correct directory. I then got a message saying wrid.dll was loaded but the DillRegisterServer entry point was not found. Anyway, after two clean installations I tried running it again and it stopped right in the middle again. I still have no Spy Sweeper and I wrote Webroot support team and got three typed pages that do not say anything to a helpless old lady.

What is the operating System? Vista, XP or something else.

See if spysweeper will run in (safe mode) here is how:

1. Restart your computer.
2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
5. Try to run spysweeper, reboot to boot back into normal mode.

lets try checking for any malware then to see if that is what is blocking you possibly, download, install, update and run full scan with malwarebytes free. It will give you a log with results if you post it here we can see what is happening also be sure you let it clean anything it finds and you may need to reboot.
