The side space is not a matter of airflow, it's a matter of allowing the door to open sufficiently, taking into account the function of its hinge and the depth of the handle, etc. To the OP, Samsung should have a dimensions guide online for your fridge, and it will tell you how much space you need. I've been told that most just need enough space to slide in there, but need air space at the back. Our KA CD FD fridge (like Tim's but not Pro-Style) only required 1/8 or 1/4 inch on each side. I would go for the filler strips -- I'm sure you can make it look seamless.

I have all my photos on CD's. I scanned all the photos into folders, topic, year, celebration, whatever and burned them. I made two copies. One is in the safe deposit box at the bank, the other in my house. I only scan onto CD-R's. I find that they are tolerated by other computers and as long as I burn them as jpeg, I can view them on the TV thru my DVD player. (Your DVD player has to be able to project the jpeg images) The cost of CD-R's is so low, in fact if you watch the ads, you can often get them free after rebates. I often send CD's to family and friends after a get-together. The cost is so low. I try to use brands that I have had good experience with. It is also very helpful to have dates on the images, at least some of them, to stop the arguments of 'when was that taken' as you view them. I do have a software program that helps me organize the pictures and allows me to insert text on the images. Images on CD's last virtually forever. Storing them on other media may not be. It took a long time to sort thru the old photos and scan them into the computer, but the knowledge that fire, storm, whatever cannot take these memories is a good reward.

Your post reminds me how out of touch I have become with this kind of problem (and I am just posting about a possible win install too). However like you, I remember some things from my past and I suspect that your problem is probably a simple fix. At least for the time being, I think reinstalling windows is extreme and since you have a second working computer you should wait for some of these other clever folks to help. I'll bet there is some utility to help with this but if not, there must be a way to mnually link particular extensions to specific programs, and for the time being you would probably only need to make a couple of links (but don't ask me how).
