An amusing blog for the ladies (and some of you gents)

DH left this blog on the computer for me to read. He thought I'd find it amusing, and I did. I think any of you that are fans of Ina Garten and her scrumptious occasional guest, TR, will find this amusing, too.

Yes indeed !! I only saw her show once, she was preparing a dinner for her wedding anniversary, her dh bought her a pup tent. I enjoyed watching her talk about the food and it's preparation, you could tell she really loves it.

Toni, Thank you. All of them have potting medium covered up with a thin layer of top dressing. The big bowl has a thick layer of pure Turface below the potting medium so the plants there (all with shallow roots) don't rot.

Dean - In general I don't like midribs either, but it does add to eye appeal on Forsyth Frostbound. Mantis - You are right about FF's performance. It never has many buds - not even with fertilizing or being in full sun. It has increased rapidly with those conditions, so I have a lot of scapes now. And I did have rebloom on two scapes last year. So I keep it around because of its unique look and because it's one of my husband's favorites. Debra

I have never had apples and peanut butter. I think before I would try this I would eat apples and peanut butter together to see if I liked it. Hubby isn't a big PB fan. wonder if he would like it with apples, which he loves. I think this is worth a try.

Since i'm a lover of *all* things historic, I absolutely love the house! Like nova, when visiting a city I love to walk thru the historic neighborhoods and go 'ga-ga' over the homes~my favorite place has been Wilmington, NC. The price seems a bit on the high side to me. A frind of mine who lives in the Dallas/Ft, Worth area bought a home about 6 years ago, very similiar, but BIGGER, and it was *only* $350K. They probably dropped another $200K on restoration and furniture, but that's usually an expectation if it needs updating to preserve the history. Tricia, sorry you weren't able to get the home. My dream has always been to have a 'regal lady' or even a Greek revival will do. I need to tell you a funny story:I just got back from Austin, and while there, came across an all brick, TDF, Greek revival. I told my DD, *that* was the house I wanted, would contact a real estate person, and send a letter to the owner, asking if they were interested in selling. It just so happens the home is in a small town, where they have a farmers market once a week. On my second week there, we went to the farmers market, and talked to several of the vendors, admiring their products. One of them was a lady who made soaps, lotions, etc., and also, beautiful hand-painted/home-made paper greeeting cards, made by her mother. I started looking thru them at the different pictures, and she pulled one out saying, 'this one should be in the front'. I about peed on the ground when I saw it was 'the house'! I told her I had been by the house several times, and *that* house was the house I wanted to buy, and asked if she knew the owner. When she said 'that would be me', I swear I felt the pee running down my leg!!!(sorry about being so discriptive) She gave me her card, and said I can come to look at the house anytime. By the way, she moved there two years ago from of all places, CA, and I didn't ask, but probably paid cash AND got a deal. If you've seen the movie/read the book, The Secret, I DO believe the universe told me I had to move on, and couldn't be daydreaming about a house that would never be mine. ;o) patty_cakes

Ken and I are both Ina fans! And TR fans too! He bought our friend's house when she sold it and he lives across the street and down the block from Kathleen. It was writing and talking about that house a couple of years ago that made Kathleen and I realize that we had a friend in common, a real live flesh and blood person, not an internet friend, LOL.

Yes, he lived 2 doors down for years, then bought our friend's house a few years ago.
He is always around.
Do you want me to get a pic as he jogs by? LOL
He is a very nice guy..brought over some cufflinks he found in Marie's house so I could give them to her..

Ina did a show from his house here a few years ago..

Now Matt Lauer is our neighbor too..I think I will bake a cake and walk over with it..
Now can anyone suggest a recipe?? :)

I was thinking that one of the members here was friends with one of Ina's friends. So, when are you going to be on her show?

A pic of TR jogging by? You have to ask?

The nice thing about men like TR or Nate Berkus is that you can drool all you want and not worry about making you hubby jealous!

There's some mighty good looking cake recipes on the Apple thread right now. Go ahead. Be neighborly and greet your new neighbor with a cake. Maybe he'll invite you onto the Today Show.

Oh sure, Ina maybe would let me do the dishes ..LOL
Sally, I really don't watch the Today Show. And I was kidding about bringing him a cake..My sister from TX was here for 2 days in Sept. I was home mopping the floors. She walked down to the beach and told me she had met him..I hadn't even told her he bought a house here!

LOL, Woodie..
Sounds like Death By Chocolate..but I know you like the other name better!
Sally, our beach is small, just for this neighborhood...so you would def see him!
Heck, I probably saw Woodie on this beach, but didn't know her then!
