Ctrl/PrtSC loads it to clip board. Ctrl/Alt/PrtSc loads top window to clipbard. Then open Paint and paste.

Thanks mike, but it doesn't work on this keyboard. Its a MS wireless keyboard and mouse and for some reason the printScreen key doesn't work. I thought I could assign one of the hotkeys to work it, but I need the path.

I'm so annoyed with this keyboard!

Their are free software programs for print screen
where you don't have to use the print screen key.
ScreenHunter 5.0 is free.
ScreenHunter 5.0
After you download and run it go to and right click Taskbar- Toolbar - and put a checkmark for Desktop.
This will now show your ScreenHunter.
It has to be set for rectangular area and print screen.

Thanks all. I discovered the problem and will share it in case anyone else has a MS IntelliMouse/Keyboard. The print/screen key, on this wireless keyboard, serves 3 functions. To get prt/scr to work, you have to hit the F Lock Key. This shuts off the other two functions allowing prt/scr to operate.

What a pain. I googled, went to MS looking for updates for the keyboard, and discovered the solution on the MS Community forum. I would send this set back, only I threw out the box. Heaven knows what other keys do not work.

I must have the exact keyboard - I was going to suggest toggling the FLock key - that is what I also have to do.

I really love my keyboard - and don't have any issue with the FLock - I just leave it off most of the time.

I do have my "FAVORITES" (the 1-5 buttons at the top of the keyboard) programed - I can open My Music, My Pictures, Photo editing program, etc. - with the touch of one button.

When I want to save a screen - I press 4 to open my Photo editor, then do a print screen of what I want to save and paste it into a blank project.

Did you know you can use the Alt key to only copy the top window using Print Screen? That is a handy hint I learned here.

You can always just take out your digital camera and zoom the part of the screen you want to capture. Digital camera's have more dots ....... per inch" and remove the red i's.

Interesting, and Mikie, I might just do that. I'm not thrilled with this keyboard and mouse. There was nothing in the literature which mentioned the F-lock key. It took me hours searching the internet for info on this set. Then there were so many updates to download.

Iowagirl, maybe you could tell me how far you have the sensor from the keyboard and mouse? I have to keep it within a foot or either to work. To my thinking, that's not wireless!

I guess I don't really go that far from the sensor - but I can get at least 4' away.

I don't use the mouse anymore - it wore out after much use. I went to a corded mouse that was a freebie and never bothered to replace the cordless mouse.

I used some sticky velcro to mount my sensor under a shelf on my computer cabinet. It kept getting pulled off the shelf.

Good idea with the velcro. I don't have a shelf, plus the sensor is stretched to it's limit. I think they give you 3 ft and I'm at least 4-5 ft. I had an old MS wireless mouse for a few years and never had the sensor this close. Never had a problem with it. This one stinks, I wish I could return it.

I am having trouble making the print screen key work on an HP computer with Vista while putting the picture on PhotoShop Elements 4.0. The same move works fine on another computer running XP. I was told to press the F lock key before pressing the print screen key and it should work. What is the F lock key? Thanks
