Question about induction cooktops to be placed in island

I hope this isn't a brainless question... but here it goes... I plan on replacing my cooktop and oven with double ovens (what yet... I don't know) and add an island with a 36" induction cooktop. I know I will have to upgrade electic, but do I have to get a hood or add some kind of downdraft? I prefer an unencumbered look which would lead me to downdraft, but how is that done with concrete floors? Live in So. Florida and we don't have basements. I have an open floor plan for the entire living area and didn't plan on having to replace all my flooring. Actually... would love to but the area is huge and expense woudl be too great. My current cooktop stove is on an outside wall so there is no visible vent. I hadn't thought of this when I began planning for my dream island with the induction cooktop. Can anyone help me understand? Thanks!
