Not sinister, but like TI is an example of a "big boy" given up on a market. Almost as bad as AT&T and consumer communications... all that's left is the rather successful iPOD (think that is what is called in wireless communications - and with a touch screen I believe). AT&T is a shadow of itself, he-l it was once a bigger employer than Walmart : ( My comment that may have started this was my shopping for a new Laptop (not a notebook this time, considering a 17.3" screen - non touch) and checking on Dell and HP to see if they were still in that business. Seems both have recognized, perhaps soon enough to survive, that personal computers with a mouse and keypad are going into history. I connected this with some lament that I can't now quantify, that Microsoft sales of Windows 8, indeed computer OS, is way down. This lead me to comment that we may all live (even an old guy like me) to see the end of MS, if not that then a much smaller and less profitable company. Given Gates and others at the top of MS are working hard to give their money away before the $#&% government gobbles it up with inheritance tax. Those folks know that will result in all their hard work and creativity being wasted by people who specialize in that game. Would I sell my MS stock if I had some? Yes, but as all that I hold is in mutual funds I don't have any control, I just hope the fund managers have a brain.

for me all of my versions of firefox have the address bar on the menu bar perhaps right click and choose customize and see if you can drag the url bar on to it. make sure it has not been squeezed down so you can not see it because you can slide and move all of that stuff on the bars to the size you want it and it can get so squeezed it virtually disappears. There has to be a setting in about:config for it also but I don't know exactly which it would be. Menu Bar (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help) Press ALT V T M (CTRL V T M on Macs) on your keyboard. This should restore the menu bar , You can also restore the menu bar by pressing Alt and going to View : Toolbars : Menu bar Navigation Toolbar Press Alt V T N (CTRL V T N on Macs) on your keyboard. You can also restore the Nav. Toolbar by going to View : Toolbars : Navigation Toolbar OR 1) click on start 2)go to all programs 3) roll down to mozilla firefox folder 4) click on Mozilla Firefox (safe mode), check the box where is said you can enable the menu bar.

yes it always creates a backup so the latest dated one would be the one to use just follow those directions bob gave you and point it to the latest dated one like the 8-10 one you mentioned). also if anything else seems quirky you might want to do a system restore instead so you fix anything else that might have got scrambled, that may fix your firefox too so you may want to try that first. just do start, all programs, accessories,system tools , system restore, restore to an earlier date, select the date just before that blue screen happened and have it restore to that point. it will reboot and take a little longer, if you are not happy after you try that you can always tell it to just go back each one is undoable. IT might have wiped out your entire firefox profile, try the system restore first.

Thanks Raven. Setting up the email helped - so easy and works great. I'm having more trouble with the tabs. I went to tools, options and tabs - but no matter what I choose, I can't get the tabs to stay there. I think I'm not quite clear on using them. I noticed that if I have a webpage open, and I click a link within that webpage, then it opens up the newly linked webpage - and retains the original webpage in a tab. At least I think that's what's happening - am I right? But what I was also hoping to do is if I'm on one webpage - say computer forum - and I don't want to close it - but then I want to go to my AOL mailbox - if I click on my AOl mailbox (or any other bookmarked page) - that new page opens - but I get disconnected from the other page I had opened. Is there a way to keep the former page open as well - until I close it - and have it display as a tab? I'm talking about opening up separate websites - not going from within one page and clicking a link to another. When I was using my AOL browser (which I gather is similar to IE), if I had a page opened - and then opened another - they would both be open. I'm assuming that isn't how firefox is set up by default. In which case, is there a way I can set it up like that? I did do the color tabs (I think I was looking on a link you provided in another thread for some cool add-ons and things for firefox). It's the only plugin or add-on that I got from the beginning bc.
