Changing Monitor Screen Resolution Frequently

Hi,

At the moment we only have one computer in the house and the monitor is set at 800 x 600 for the other user. But I am finding a lot of pages (including some email providers I have) that I visit requiring horizontal scrolling to see everything. I know I can relatively quickly change the resolution to 1024 x 768 by simply right-clicking somewhere on the desktop, then properties > settings, etc.

But my question is, how hard is it on the computer and/or the monitor if I do this every time I sit down at the computer (say, 1-3 times/day) and then set it back to 800 x 600 when I'm done, so the other person doesn't have to do it ? I can live with 800 x 600, but if I can get away with changing it -- without to much wear and tear -- I would like to.

Thanks for any comments !

Scott

(Btw, HP Pavilion desktop, XP SP3, 17" AccuSync 70 CRT type monitor.)
