Problem with font size in GW

Lately I have been having a problem with GW forum pages displaying in a smaller font size than I would like: not unreadable, just a couple of font sizes smaller than I would like. I use Firefox 3.0.12 and have gone into Tools / Options / Fonts & Colors / Advanced and unchecked "Allow pages to choose their own fonts" and set a minimum font size of 12. I have also Cleared Private Data. When I go to a GW forum, the page will display with a decent style font for a second or two, but then it shrinks to a much smaller size font. I can easily adjust the font back up with the slider button on my Intellimouse Explorer, but, if I switch to another forum, the page font shrinks again. I am seeing a full screen page all the time...there are just more words per line when the font shrinks. This just started a couple of weeks ago and doesn't happen with any other web site.

No idea what's gone wrong with your firefox. I have changed my default font to Verdana size 20 and the gardenweb forums are easy on my eyes with that setting.

I'm having the same problem, and began at the same time as yours, also in Firefoz. (Not using IE for GW anymore; toooo slooooow.). More than very annoying!

I looked at the HTML source for June/Goldedgers post, and she uses a title - in HTML it's the word tltle surrouned with a less than : greater than symbol, like this: Normally the 'title' section would be followed by an ending title which would look the same as in the image above, but as you can see, she has other endings such as 'font' but does not have an ending title. I experimented a little and I can create a post just like hers, and in my Firefox it is readable, but I'd be willing to bet it's not in IE. IE is not so 'forgiving' of errors like that as other browsers is. The funny thing is, though, that if I do it properly and then preview in Firefox, then I don't see the one done properly while I still see the one with the error in it.... If that makes any sense...

You can color them in "MS Paint" or "PSP" (these are the ones I use!) Open the Paint program and Tpye the word you want in the font that you downloaded. You will have to make the font size REALLY big to see the details. Then using the "Paint Can" tool fill in the areas that you want colored. You may find that the color some times "leaks" to another area or to the background. This is because there is a gap in the outline of that area or letter. I "Zoom" in to magnify the area to see where the gap is and using the "Pencil" or "Paint Brush" tool on the smallest setting I close the gap in Black. Now you can go back and recolor the area the way you wnat it. If you use "PSP" you cna play with the textures as well as the colors. This way you can make Patch work type designs look like they are fabric etc... The first time you do it might take a while, but I found that I have gotten alot faster the more I played with it. Thank you all for your help! I have passed on the info to my Dad, who seems to have blundered his way into some sort of satisfactory resolution. He has a young mate down the road (only 83 y.o.!), who does seem to know his way around a computer. Unfortunately, he hates Firefox (calls it Mozzarella!) and is set in his IE ways, but has cobbled together something for Dad. Next time I visit, I'll double check, and also install 3.5.1! On your toolbar, if you are using IE, go to View, Text Size, then click on Medium. You can also do it with the scroll wheel on your mouse by clicking and holding Ctrl while you turn the scroll wheel. Half the time that doens't work for me, so I find going in through the Tool Bar works better.

Bob,

When on the web surfing I like to sit back from the monitor with my feet up on the corner of the computer desk and the keyboard in my lap. I have my FF display set at Franklin Gothic Medium 20. It works much better than the default.

I have my font size on 20 also it is so much better for these old defective eyes of mine.

DA, I hadn't tried that one before but it looks good. I'll have to switch back and forth for a while to see which I prefer.

Most people have a scroll mouse. If you do, go to GW,
open a page, hold down the Ctl button and move the scroll wheel either forward or backward to adjust the size of the print

apparently GW is aware there is a problem with this because now on the red updates info at the top of each page it mentions the shrinking font size and the back button issues and that they are working on them.
