font problem

My SIL has a problem when she emails her son. She uses a mac computer and in some of her emails to her son the font will change on his end when he receives it. It doesn't happen all the time. I guess part way through the email the font will be very very small. She says it looks normal when she sends it. It happens on his blackberry and computer emails. I think he uses gmail and also a .gov address. It has never happened when she emails me and only part of the time when she emails him. Noone else has mentioned it to her. Sounds like it would be something on his end. Anyone have any ideas?

Use plain text, not fancy fonts or RichText or HTML. Plain old txt

You can color them in "MS Paint" or "PSP" (these are the ones I use!) Open the Paint program and Tpye the word you want in the font that you downloaded. You will have to make the font size REALLY big to see the details. Then using the "Paint Can" tool fill in the areas that you want colored. You may find that the color some times "leaks" to another area or to the background. This is because there is a gap in the outline of that area or letter. I "Zoom" in to magnify the area to see where the gap is and using the "Pencil" or "Paint Brush" tool on the smallest setting I close the gap in Black. Now you can go back and recolor the area the way you wnat it. If you use "PSP" you cna play with the textures as well as the colors. This way you can make Patch work type designs look like they are fabric etc... The first time you do it might take a while, but I found that I have gotten alot faster the more I played with it. This is a common problem with laptops. You are brushing the touchpad without realizing it. See if you have an option in your Control Panel to disable it while typing, or use a utility like the one in the link below. Here is a link that might be useful: Disable touchpad

Tamara, are you still checking this thread? The font size seems to be stable after a few glitches this morning. Still have to double click to go back. Still have to log in each time I stop in, despite checking the box to save the information on my computer. I have the same issues using my hubby's laptop and using IE. However, here's a funny little quirk. It seems I only have to log in each time for the Kitchen Forum. I just came from there where I wasn't logged in to this thread on the Cooking Forum where I *am* logged in. And I didn't log in inbetween stops. I'm remembered in one forum and not the other. Please get the powers that be at GW to fix this mess! Thank you!

No, no FKB problems. But, I think I know what your problem may be since I occasionally had this problem until I figured it out! Be sure your browser window is wide enough to fit the kitchen that's currently being displayed. Try expanding your browser window so it's wider....that should bring the kitchen to the top. BTW...the font issue others are talking about...have not experience this at all in either version of Firefox that I'm using.... I do have AdBlock Plus on both machines and I did update it, at least on my home machine (3.0.11) recently...sometime this past weekend. I don't remember updating my work machine yet (3.0.12).

I have cataracts and can't see as well I used to, so I went into options and set the received email fonts the same as sent.

I use a Mac and have noticed from time to time that in responses to my messages the font size of my original message is quite small (maybe 8 points). I don't know what that is and it doesn't seem to happen all the time.

Your SIL should probably check with one of the forums dedicated to Mac users.

I have had this happen in e-mails that I have received from Mac users; the font is so tiny I can hardly read. It also happens with a person who uses AOL as his mail program. I have tried everything I can to enlarge on my receiving end, but nothing seems to help.

Grandms if you have difficulty reading the small print try clicking to forward or reply. Then you can change the text size and after reading cancel the forward or reply. A bit of a pain but a half vast solution of sorts.

I don't know if the emails are being read in a client such as Outlook or a browser.

If it happens to be a browser perhaps setting a minimum font size would help?

the size of the font will change in he middle of an email but not always.
