Long ago I grew a Tahoma Glacier for a couple years, gorgeous flower, but gave it away to a friend in NY because my summers were way too hot for it. The main problem with growing this particular hybid is keeping it cooler than your usual Oncidium intergeneric. If you can keep this plant in bright light (it doesn't need direct sun) and in the 50s/low 60s at night and no more than about 75F or so during the day (check the temperature right where the plant is, not just the room temp), not allow it to completely dry out but not keep it sopping wet, it should do well for you. Of course, it won't like 20% humidity, but should be happy enough with something in the 50% range, especially if it is higher at night. I had mine potted in a plastic pot in fine bark/sponge rock/charcoal mix, which is what I have almost everything potted in. Your mileage may vary there. Basically, I grew it exactly like my Sharry Baby, only cooler -- that is why I finally had to give it away. Get back to us when you have your hygrometer.

In fact, the Windiz site's "Why Use W.U. ?" link at the right of its homepage (http://www.windizupdate.com/) notes sarcastically in the list of advantages of using the product: "No more unwanted spyware -- Microsoft Internet Explorer can finally be removed from your computer (if that were possible)." So, the WindizUpdate extension apparently is 'free' of all dependence on IE. And as I noted previously, for me, WindizUpdate is very fast. When I would go to the MS site and manually scan the computer for updates, it would take 10-15 minutes for IE to complete that task alone !! Windiz takes less than a minute !! :-) I don't know if that would be the case if I were still really using IE for the (manual) update I do when I use FF and Windiz. Scott My apologies, Rita, if I have misunderstood and you weren't commenting on the Windiz extension at all, but were *intending* to address the 'embedded IE' type of extensions for FF !

You would probably eliminate the problem, by going down to the version of firefox, you had before upgrading. Your system is older, and some of the requirements for the newer version of firefox, you just may not have on that computer. :-)) I also run XP, and I use firefox. I am running version 9.0 and it works perfectly. I could go a couple updates higher, but, when something is working great, best not to mess with it, especially on an older system. Also, notice above recommendations to update your IE. You should be aware, that some XP computers will not run IE8 very well, and some will. Most will run ie7 without any problems. Please check all system requirements when you decide to update or download something on a system that is using XP and enjoy using that computer for a long time yet. Good Luck to you.

A Baptista sphaerocarpa poked its little head up today in one of my pots. I love when those bigger seeds come up and push up the potting soil, looks so frisky and alive. Also, the Mountain Mint came up, talk about teeny tiny plants. I'll probably end up frying them in my sunny window. They came up very easily, a bit too easily if you get my drift. I was hesitant to type that because I don't think its appropriate nor do I have any desire to get into a political back and forth discussion on a forum like this (or anywhere else for that matter) but I'm really scared. The recent developments are grotesquely disturbing and its affecting my state of mind. These are worrisome times but I've been observing and commented on Hot Topics (on one of the not so 'hot' threads) that it appears a long dormant patriotism is awakening due to resistance. We are for the most part a good and generous people even if we don't look like it right now to the rest of the world.
