Gaggenau Double Convection Oven - 30 inch - Depth Issue?
Comments (4)I suspect that they are comparably sized. The whole move to 30" wide ovens is because baking sheets fit in sideways rather than front to back. The fan in the back takes up space whether it has the stick out hat or whether the oven wall is just closer. My Gaggenau 30" single oven, which should be comparable, fits my old cookie sheets, just exactly. (I have it and the combi-steam.) The width of the sheets is slightly over 13.5". They fit nicely on the rack, sideways, but without any extra room front to back (quite a bit of extra side to side). The oven comes with one, shallow well, baking sheet covered with oven porcelain enamel (i.e., can go through the self clean cycle), and it's possible to order more (I just did). The accuracy of the Gaggenau oven is worth a few small annoyances. There are no glide racks, for instance. I've make a 22 pound turkey in mine and had plenty of extra room. I've also made a vertical chicken with plenty of height to spare. I love Gaggenau ovens. My mother has had one for many years. The same appetizers go in for the same time at the same temperature, first tray, last tray, year after year, no variation, no checking for doneness. The accuracy is unparalleled. Anything can need a service call for some reason, so make sure that you have a local Gaggenau service provider. The new control screen thing is bit more involved than the knobs on the previous model, but the book is a lot better. It might take you a little while to learn which settings do what and all. I have the book on the table right next to the oven, and probably will for awhile. But it's so worth it....See MoreSide opening Gaggenau oven - place under range/cooktop
Comments (3)You loose all the benefits of a side opening oven when it's low, and add some dangers. The door does get hot. Mine is stacked with the combi-steam, and because of that, the oven is a little low for my druthers, at more like hip level than waist level. The combi- is still a little too high though technically still at shoulder level. The side swing is still better than a drop down at hip height, but it would be better at waist height. Yes, the door could burn your arm. Not so long ago, I wasn't thinking and bumped the hot door with my hip...while wearing shorts. I didn't get a bad enough burn to even call a booboo, but it did sting for a couple of days and made a bit of a mark. I would not want to have the door all involved with legs and whatnot. It's not that it can't be coped with, it's just that when you spend that much money on an oven, it's unfortunate if you have to compromise on its placement....See MoreWolf 30" side open oven replacement
Comments (0)Any suggestions? Love the side opening rather than leaning over the door. Know we're going to have to work with the opening that's already there, but just want some suggestions to start with. We've been having issues and have decided that multiple $300 repairs and not knowing if we will have an oven that works at Thanksgiving isn't worth it. Doesn't matter the brand. I've checked on-line and am relying on you folks! If my frustration is showing... gail....See MoreGaggenau Double Convection Oven - 30 inch - Depth Issue?
Comments (3)We have them (Gagg 30" double). You know, all my pans fit in our ovens but, like any convection oven (or any convection oven at which I looked three years ago), that fan does protrude. But all my pans fit so it hasn't been a problem for me. We're vegan so we're not cooking a turkey or roast which might require bigger pans. That's not to say we cook in Barbie-sized pans -- we've cooked sizable casseroles and with sheet pans. The ovens are INSANELY expensive but man-oh-man do we love them! Both my partner and I, in playing the "if we had to do it over" game, never second-guess those ovens. For us, the side-opening feature is too fabulous, and once we learned the control system icons it is so simple to operate. LOVE them!...See Moreinga239
